I'm not sure I understand the general negative and or anti-EV comments.
There is a huge range of fact and values standpoints in the EV subject. Most of the negativity is a reaction to the viewpoints at far the extremes of left or right. The second negativity is reaction to misuse or ignorance of facts. Ignorance being based in either non-comprehension or by choice.

Pretty normal misbehavior when the viewpoints have gotten more political ( or policy presumptive ) than factual in nature. I'm very pro EV (at a factual level), but I get marked as anti-EV sometimes(and the other way), since I'm plenty willing to state the pitfalls (pro or con).

I would like to like Electric. But battery technology just isn't there yet. and honestly, I'm amazed it isn't. Just like cell phones, the phones have outgrown the battery technology. For the electric cars, living in a wide metropolis like Dallas/Fort Worth, the limited range and lengthy charge times just aren't feasible. Hope someday that changes.

There is apparently major breakthroughs in battery tech to increase range significantly and lower price. The tech just hasn't made it into the manufacturing cycle...........my money is on Tesla doing it soon at their new gigafactory.

I believe I think along the same lines as AriLea. As an electrical engineer I love the technology and idea of EV's. However I also believe we are still a number of years away from EV's being practical from the point of view of simple economics.

we've owned an EV .... enjoyed it at times .... was happier the day we finally sold it than I was on the day we bought it .... I agree with those who like the concept but recognize that battery technology just ain't there yet .... that would be doubly true for a vehicle the size of an Elio

We've had a Prius (liked it, with one critical exception: you couldn't over-ride traction control, and it sucked in snow. Wife got stuck in our hilly driveway at least once each winter). Also had a Honda Insight -- lousy car all round, but not because it was a hybrid, but because its ergonomics were bad, its headlights were way to low (by design we were told) so that even on high beams night vision was poor), and because, well, it just wasn't a really good car.

If a pure electric had the range, I'd be in. But EV and hybrids are EXPENSIVE. I want my Elio!
