My wife and I decided to take a fun little drive over Easter weekend. We started our drive in Tucson. We drove to Wilcox and then through the San Carlos Indian reservation out to Globe. Finally, we drove from Globe through Mammoth and Oracle down into Oro Valley. We took a Road (Skyline) that follows the southern foothills of the Catalina Mountains to east side of Tucson where we live.

An EV would have never been able to do this 380 mile drive in 8 hours. Especially with the spirited driving that we enjoyed during our drive. For the foreseeable future, I'm sticking to gas! Oh, and I'm sure my Elio will handle the drive just fine.

Well the only way you can sell Electric cars is have tax payers pick up the tab. ELIO can't get a simple guaranteed loan yet.
It's highly likely I will buy an EV in the 2017 model year so I thank you in advance for your tax contribution.

It's unfortunate that the government hasn't provided much help and financial support to the real auto industry over the years. image.jpg

Been there, did that! You get to see some -real- Arizona that way! I want to Elio that drive too.

Wow.. Wow... Next thing you know, you'll be suggesting the government has been subsidizing the major oil companies. (where's that sarcasm emoji?)

I believe that the Elio will most likely happen, and MIGHT happen next year, but if they don't get the financing part taken care of in the next couple of months, we can forget about having our Elios built next year.... There are just too many things that need to happen, and while up until this point I have been nothing but positive about the whole thing, despite all of the naysayers, I just don't see the car being built in 2016 unless we get the ball rolling with completion of financial backing by June of this year....

In my opinion we simply have way too much time on our hands so at times we focus on details such as the gauges and what side the fuel fill should be on. These are details that will barely be noticed by the vast majority of potential buyers when presented with a completed vehicle.
I'm going to say this because I didn't think I ever would... If I'm being completely honest, I'd say the Elgin dash is kind of growing on me. I also suspect that if Paul thinks there will be general dislike of it, rather than nix the Lord Elgin completely, he'll make it an inexpensive option. Being a betting man, I'd bet that the Lord Elgin Elios will be the most sought after by collectors some time in the far, far future... In a galaxy far, far away...

Did elio miss a big opportunity here? They could have installed the elgin dash to give a large number of viewers what it would be like. They already have a test program to show its function, and they could either wire it with a button, or just have and auto-repeat function.

The real opportunity would have been to make a video with paul & jerome standing next to the running engine in the dyno room commenting on their feelings about building and testing the engine, along with some comments on the testing progress - current hours, hp, torque, emissions, fuel consumption under load, etc.
