Did elio miss a big opportunity here? They could have installed the elgin dash to give a large number of viewers what it would be like. They already have a test program to show its function, and they could either wire it with a button, or just have and auto-repeat function.

The real opportunity would have been to make a video with paul & jerome standing next to the running engine in the dyno room commenting on their feelings about building and testing the engine, along with some comments on the testing progress - current hours, hp, torque, emissions, fuel consumption under load, etc.
Maybe too they could have shown Jerome hugging the engine (not possible with Paul, he has that Grande Latte attached to his hand)

I like electric too. If Elio builds their autocycle you can bet in a few short years there will be an EV model. Perhaps an && vehicle. The autocycle's light weight may provide dramatic increases in range. I look forward to it, mostly because of increased performance and quiet ride in what would be a city & shorter range commuter to compliment my gas guzzling Elio cross country commuter.

I'm not sure I understand the general negative and or anti-EV comments. Nobody is forcing everybody to buy one, but is a nice option for those that may prefer EV's leaving more gas for others and their gas guzzling Elio. lol
My wife and I decided to take a fun little drive over Easter weekend. We started our drive in Tucson. We drove to Wilcox and then through the San Carlos Indian reservation out to Globe. Finally, we drove from Globe through Mammoth and Oracle down into Oro Valley. We took a Road (Skyline) that follows the southern foothills of the Catalina Mountains to east side of Tucson where we live.

An EV would have never been able to do this 380 mile drive in 8 hours. Especially in with the spirited driving that we enjoyed during our drive. For the foreseeable future, I'm sticking to gas! Oh, and I'm sure my Elio will handle the drive just fine.
...and if you had a kid, neither would your Elio. An electric vehicle, at least for me, would have to be an & vehicle just like the Elio. A $30,000 Chevy Volt just doesn't make sense but a $7,000 Elio does.

I'm still saying that putting a little 50hp hub motor on that back tire of my Elio is going to happen some day... I'll just put a couple of batteries in the trunk to keep it juiced at least as an assist to the other motor. Maybe not super better mileage but it would be a kick to double the available horse power! And who knows, maybe I'd be able to go gasless for a few miles.

I'm going to say this because I didn't think I ever would... If I'm being completely honest, I'd say the Elgin dash is kind of growing on me. I also suspect that if Paul thinks there will be general dislike of it, rather than nix the Lord Elgin completely, he'll make it an inexpensive option. Being a betting man, I'd bet that the Lord Elgin Elios will be the most sought after by collectors some time in the far, far future... In a galaxy far, far away...
I predicted that would happen! You are the first of many that will be coming to that honest realization.

What was it that Jerome said? Something like "Listening to the engine run was like hearing my newborn baby cry for the first time." The video showing Jerome weeping while hugging the engine, with Paul in the background sipping the Grand Latte with a look of approval in his eyes, would just overwhelm the formerly skeptical investors and they would race forward, throwing money at the project.

Someone is going to see the vehicle in the near future and was inquiring about interesting questions to ask. I don't remember who it is.
Perhaps someone already knows.

Question: What is the required valve train servicing and how frequent?

Thanks.

In my opinion we simply have way too much time on our hands so at times we focus on details such as the gauges and what side the fuel fill should be on. These are details that will barely be noticed by the vast majority of potential buyers when presented with a completed vehicle.
Thanks, Hector.
Great example of television consciousness.
