Anyone Ask About Interior Noise?

3D cad models probably simulate aerodynamics OK for a start but a wind tunnel would reveal even more plus noise could be evaluated with real wind..

I would love to see video of an Elio in a wind tunnel. I wonder if they plan on doing that.

I think most of the noise at highway speed comes from the tire/road contact, even on normal cars. I live on a rural road that people do 60mph on and that's about all I hear, and it's loud. I can hear them coming a long way off, and it's the tires.

Of course inside the car when you roll the window down you mostly hear the wind around the window frame, but I'm pretty sure any noise you might hear from the wheel area will be tire noise, not wind.

My Insight came w/Dunlop SP31A (175/65-15), LRR (low rolling resistance) tires, for fuel economy.
Although not noisy from outside, the tire compound is hard and transmitted a lot of road noise to the interior. I now have Michelins.

LRRs' are out there and Elio may indeed be shod w/them. W/only 1 tire w/i the body shell, Elio may not have that problem, however.

Anyone that has seen the Elio in person ask how much interior noise can be expected?

When looking over the Elio, the reps were telling me that the Elio will have a quite ride in part due to the sound deadening properties of the material the exterior panels are made of.

When I asked, they said that it was currently a noisy ride and that was one of the big things that was going to change in the next model.

I know for $6800 you can't have everything, but it will have to be somewhat quiet inside for me to purchase one.

I didn't really think of the noise I am mostly thinking of ride quality I was thinking of that this morning while driving my car as it sits it has performance lowering springs and shocks and runs on low profile tires.

Noise wise I would guess it would be around any standard econobox

All the bikes I ride are "quiet" ones. I wear ear plugs every time I get on.
