They might deliver the very first reservation Elio to the buyer's actual house. For a photo-op and press promo. But unless your reservation # is 000001, you'll most likely need to pick up your Elio from somewhere.

I understood there will be marshalling locations around the country. You will need to choose the one closest to you and that is where you will "take delivery".

The "to your door" delivery is supposed to be an additional cost option.
I was told, you pay the normal transportation fee (as per normal rate) and for an additional fee of $60 to $80 you can have it delivered to your door.
This way you can drive your neighbors crazy; what other car company will deliver a new car to your door?
Personally, I'm thinking of having that done; this way when they come over to get a look, it will show a low double (or single) digit number on the odometer. (Just not for very long; but long enough to do a good photo shoot).

Fender lights will ruin the drag coefficient numbers. And wires to power those lights will be flapping in the breeze. And of course, that'll raise the base price of the Elio, and hurt the MPG numbers. Thanks, but no thanks.

That's one of those mods that the owner should do if he/she is so inclined.

Are you an engineer? How do you know fender lights would ruin the drag coefficient? How do you know the cables will be flapping in the wind? You don't think the wires would be secured somehow? Are the brake lines going to be flapping in the wind too?

I am not an engineer. But I do have a working knowledge of fundamental aerodynamics (I'm a pilot). Anytime you increase the frontal surface area of an object, drag increases. Adding lights to the [existing] Elio fender will increase drag because of the necessary wiring harness which is needed to power the lights. This will cause drag unless the wiring harness was integrated into the A arms of the front suspension.

Also, the optional "classic" fenders just don't have sufficient space to house any light assemblies - they hug the front tire very closely and there just isn't sufficient room. They would need to be redesigned to accommodate lights and I doubt EM will making any radical changes to the E1-A production model.

We'll see! Lots can happen between now and the day the first guy takes delivery on his Elio!

You can do a flush mount LED that wouldn't be much deeper that 1/4"; the upper A arms are hollow so the 2 or 3 - 22 gauge wires can be threaded through the upper A-arm; so now tell me where is the problem?

Yes. I stated that in my response:

I then stated that I don/t think EM will be making many changes to the E1 fender design. I offered the caveat that I could be wrong and only time will tell.

The fenders are so beautiful with its clean lines, I hate to add anything to them.
Maybe lights can shine on the fenders from the body, like airplanes.
Could lights be added to the body to illuminate the front and back of the fenders? How would that look?
Of course, there is no way of illuminating the outsides of the fenders, but maybe an led "artistic" pattern can be added to the outside.

If you're going to leave it in the driveway for the neighbors to see, don't forget to leave the price sticker on, it helps build up the envy....
