I believe the engine is suspended loosely in it's cradle to allow vibration testing. You really can't pick up all the minute accelerations if the engine is tied down too tight. Can't see them but the engine probably has vib accelerometers all over it. Also Honda engines have an engine mount in the area of the cam cover plate in question. I think the plate looks out of place because it's only covering the hole during testing. Mount configuration will be determined when the chassis is ready. IMHO.

As I watch the Tesla and the naysayers and doubts I can relate- although the cars are different same concerns loom over startups. According to the conspiracy hacks Elon Musk would have been assassinated by Big Oil by now.
Watch this video starting at about the 5:45 minute mark up to 7:30 min mark. There are other statements similar but I can relate to the concerns. And their risks were $5k not $1k ;)

I'm not a naysayer by any means, but the more of these things you hear, they start to make sense. I don't believe anyone in the video wishes Elio any Ill will, but at some point you have to face facts. The difference between Musk and Elio, is Musk went into it with the money, while Elio just led everyone to believe he had it, until he could no longer deny he didn't. I'm like the guy at the end of the report who still wants to believe this will happen, but I don't think I could provide any proof that it will. Still keeping the faith.

that would seem to pretty well sum it up for many of us .... I think it would be reasonable to believe that none of us who don't work inside the company know very much at all .... we do have folks here who've followed EM since its inception and some who've been here a matter of days .... its been a long road for some and the distance to the end is drawing to a close for all of us .... its been interesting to watch how folks have reacted with the roller-coaster ride we've experienced over the last few months .... I still believe that EM's key folks are working hard to make it happen and at this point sitting back and enjoying the ride is about all I know of that I can do

Tesla was not particularly well funded early on, not much better than Elio Motors as I recall, though they did have all the buzz of a new EV at the time and ultimately got the ATVM loan. Elio Motors on the other hand is stuipyingly low tech, not particularly "sexy" for investors. Personally I think that's their achilles heel, if Elio was running on a fuel sexier than gasoline like, hydrogen or switch grass oil, or acorns or something... I think that would be more attention grabbing than a ho-humm, old fashioned internal combustion engine running on petrol. That said, like in any entrepreneurial endeavor, there's great potential and great risk, so I'm glad to have a front seat at the show. :)

Aside from the fact that Elio/COMAU isn't setting the world on fire trying to sell
the 'excess equipment'. I fail to see the downside risk as being so great that
angels &/or VC's aren't lining up to get in on the 'Early Release' - i.e., the first
40 -60k units, as has been said ad nauseam. The only logical answer is who
gets to have & (have how much) control, & there you have it............o_O
