well, the big show is over .... the tour should be packing up so as to head south to Palm Beach, FL for this weekend's Barrett Jackson Auto Auction .... EM has a history of sending its tour to attend these auctions so they clearly believe it is beneficial for them to do so .... I'm looking forward to this week's release of registration numbers .... the NY show will probably contribute to the total for a good while to come
You know, the NY show will probably bump up the number of people who go simply to look at the Elio at the auction, even though entry maybe $30 like it was in AZ. And the people who simply heard about it, but see it there, will be more likely to pay attention too.

I paid out $90, almost equal to a deposit, to see the Elio Team twice in AZ, took one of my boys the second day.

Someone is going to see the vehicle in the near future and was inquiring about interesting questions to ask. I don't remember who it is.
Perhaps someone already knows.

Question: What is the required valve train servicing and how frequent?

Thanks.
If it's like any other automotive engine, the answer will be that it never needs servicing.

Great theory but nothing is free. Someone will be paying for the electric charging stations and the power they use. It will either be in the initial price of the vehicle or a tax charged on gas to discourage its use.
I'm sure it's worked into the price of the direct to consumer sold Tesla EV. Since it's one price for all it's fair. Tesla may make some profit on charging the non-Tesla EVs to use it reducing tesla owner's costs. Marketing speculation of course.

in NC the surcharge is $100 per year and as the number of EV's on the road increases, I'll be surprised if that isn't raised
It should increase to help pay their fair share to the highway fund. I don't think EV owners will dispute that nor is it the primary reason they have interest in driving EVs. Elio rates as an autocycle will increase too as it should.

I think my "highway fund" rate should be proportional to the wear & tear caused by the Elio autocycle's impact on the roads ...
especially when driving this 1,450 pound vehicle (with me and my cargo weighed in) amidst the many dozens daily of 100,000(+) pound logging trucks and potato-hauling trucks all around here.
Compared to those road-crunchers, perhaps the state should pay -us- (driving our Elios) for being proportionally ultra-conservative.

I agree, you're virtually penalized here in Maine if you're not commuting in a F350!

The gas tax basically taxes people who get worse fuel mileage more than those who get good mileage. My F350 can only tear up 16 miles of road per $.52 of taxes where some people can go 40+ miles on that same $.52 of taxes. Fair? Probably. But, electric vehicles don't pay any road tax... and that isn't fair.

I agree, and I've seen as many Tesla's in Maine as I have Elio's. What I see is not just the fuel tax, but the base price of new fuel efficient cars is higher for some reason than less fuel efficient cars, and I swear most guys I know with big trucks are paying less for insurance and excise tax here in Maine. I understand that trucks are important for a lot of people in the trades, and timber and fishing industries (I was one of them) but we Mainer's seem to love our gas guzzling vehicles.

Indeed, especially with the additional penalty with the use of calcium salts on state highways in the winter - with the considerably higher corrosion (than sodium chloride salts) that it directly causes to automotive body, frame, chassis parts, exhaust systems, steering and brake parts. That's a heavy tax to pay.
I hope the under floor of our Elios is covered with the same (SCM) panel material intended for the rest of the Elio body.

I would imagine it is, but... anyone happen to know for sure if the floor pans in the Elio will be SMC?
