I first saw info about the Elio from a friend who FB shared it with me.. she knows I would be interested.. I've shared it now too.of my 270+ friends only one more has even said anything about it...sad.
I suspect that will change in no time at all. Simply keep spreading the word. No one here had heard of the Elio in January. Now I am getting responses saying they have seen it or heard about it from sources other than me. I consider this good. I don't want to be their only source. After all, I am very biased. LOL :-) Z

Though I am not "all in," I will be, once my personal issues clear up. As stated in a previous post, once I showed it to my wife, she said, and I quote: "We need two!" My 17 year old daughter, however, not as impressed. She would rather have her mother's Kia Optima. Go figure.

I believe the elio will be built, but with all the delays and problems in building a car company, the numbers will have to go up. Today base is $6800. EM has said several times they have not gone under $7000. So lets do the math shall we! A base elio with a 5 speed and no options will be about $6995 when it rolls off the line in july 2015 as a 2016 model. You add the $400 destination fee and you get a sticker of $7395. The dealer prep is about $150, and that comes to $7545. I estimated the state and local and motor vehicle tags to be 5-6%. $7545 x 6% is $452 so the total is $7997. That is $8000 for a basic elio. Add an automatic and if it is the dual clutch, figure $1200, if the AMT, $600. and cruise will be at least $300. Total for an automatic dct and cruise is about $9500, a little less, or a little more with different options. The AMT is $9000 +. BTW, Over 90% of all vehicles sold are auto . Ok, my figures are all estimates, but they are not far off. The price is incredibly reasonable in todays car market, but the public has been conditioned to only see the $6800. When the salesman or finance guy gives you the contract , the real question is do you pull out the pen and sign it. We will see in about 15 months. Glad to be part of the group. (mine will be blue with alsa chrome fenders and rear panel and a chrome lighting stripe door handle high.

pj I would bet that you are real close on your numbers. $6800 is Ice Cream without any toppings, you always have to have some toppings, if you do the math this car will be a bargain at 15K (that would be the Banana Split model). I am going to have one in my garage.

uhhmm can't disagree with your numbers.................I can see a problem for Elio though if price exceeds $10k before taxes, delivery etc. (I think) it would make VW think of a gas powered version of the Nils. http://www.caranddriver.com/news/volkswagen-nils-ev-concept-auto-shows and Toyota consider building this: http://www.tuvie.com/search/three+wheel+single+passenger+car

If it’s more than 9K out the door, I think I’m out. I will eat the grand. Just bought a new Chevy Sonic, paid 14K out the door. Whole car 14k, half car 9k. The gas mileage to me, dose not compensate for the extra 5k and half the utility capabilities. JMO

I don't think you will have a problem bringing the total in at $9K or less. Plus you have the benefit of an extra $500 in savings from your $1K all-in reservations.

I also doubt you will be out the $1K you put in if you pull out as I see some smart people making money selling their new Elio to interested parties for full price before they are widely available and pocketing the extra $500 incentive and maybe even a little more.

Will warranty transfer? If I owned the company I would not honor it. I would rather sell another unit and make the money.

If you sell the vehicle it is really less your problem than the buyers problem. Just make sure you sell it to a stranger. :D
