Each time something breaks, I will repair it myself. If the engine goes, I'll rebuild it. If it gets wrecked I will NOT buy a new car. I'll replace it with a comparable used car. Elio is tapping into a market that does not currently exist. The Elio team is not new to the game, they have all had years of prior industry experience. Their suppliers are also long time industry heavyweights. Why would they invest in meeting with this company so often if they did not feel it was a viable business model? To make anymore presumptive speculation before June would be naive. Someone has commented earlier that most auto companies don't hype a car until it's ready for sale. I understand why; transparency seems to be Elio's only downfall. I have so much more to say, but it will not change any opinions. How many normal car sales will be lost to the Elio?
Very few. Most agree, price is the driving force. I would say about 60% (just a guess) of the people buying this car can't afford the other cars and the ones that can don't want to spend that much money just for a work car. JMO
Should have read the fine print.Patient is the key right now. If I have to guess, I'm thinking that the investors out there who has been monitoring EM progress/ or lack of it knows now that there's a solid demand for it but does not want to commit due to the low price that EM wants to sell their trike. Meaning that it will take the investors longer to re-coop their initial investment before making money. And as a business...it's a big consideration. It's either EM accept the hard reality and announce that they failed to meet the promised $6,800 or keep stalling until some gullible investor go all in. I for one will still buy it if it's under 10 grand. At the very least, my 1K all in didn't end up to be an expensive t-shirt!
I think many will agree with you. I'm hoping the price spread stays where an $6800 Elio is like an Civic LX and the price that some are speculating to be $10k would be the equivalent to a Civic EX-L. This spread is similar for most passenger cars currently sold, multiply 1.5 by any advertised base model and you will be close to the fully loaded price. And performance variants (M3, etc... 2x the cost of base model).Sorry, but if the price goes to $10k. I want my money back.
If it really gets 84+MPG, and demand out strips supply, I can see the price goin to 12K out the door before sales start to level off. Unless gas is over $6 a gal. then the sky is the limit.I'd like to think that those who are all in at this point might be getting the "Kickstarter" price. I've no doubt that price will need to rise to support the necessary facilities (showrooms, maintenance centers, etc) but if the first few thousand Elios roll out the door at the $6800 for the base model, and then the price begin to rise I'll count it as "promise met," even if I end up on the wrong side of the price increases.
Bite your tongue! If it goes over $6,800 before I get mine I'm out of the game. I need that price and the 84 mpg to be able to even buy a car. No offense guys, but you are too willing to bargain away my affordable car. What you do with your Elio after you pay $6800 is your game. Simply buying mine has to be mine at this point. :-) ZIf it really gets 84+MPG, and demand out strips supply, I can see the price goin to 12K out the door before sales start to level off. Don't worry, your safe. It will be awhile before that happens. Trust me, no one wants it to stay at 6,800 more than me.Bite your tongue! If it goes over $6,800 before I get mine I'm out of the game. Well I sure hope you had the refundable deposit. I'm all in for 1K. I know what I'm getting into and there's no blaming anybody but me then again this fantasy ride is not over yet...I'm betting that with any luck...and it's gonna take more than just luck it'll have a happy ending!Sorry, but if the price goes to $10k. On the contrary, with all the waiting, I think most of the reservists will still buy it even if it hits $10,000 just to see it produced!I think many will agree with you.
