I am still a hopefull Elio fan, but no longer have the desire to defend any deceptive marketing practices that caused the haters to turn on Elio. Think about it for awhile. If you don't see at least three or four marketing ploys that were pulled off on all of us, your head would have to be burried in the sand. Since I have a stake in the game, I will still be a fan until the end, but I will not defend any of the marketing stunts that Elio clearly pulled to deceive people. No reason to rehash, but I see the validity of the hater reasoning, just as much as the fan. While I don't agree with their all their comments, I really don't dismiss them as a bunch of complainers either, and would have to admit, Elio earned their distain. Just my opinion.
I agree.Ever slow slowly, step by step, inch by inch, there is a shift in perspective by many,- All ins by definition will be in it to the end-whatever that will be. The problem for me -I'd be best served NOT going to websites about the E. You know things ain't good when the EM blog continues to say nothing of substance.

For me, this is like driving past a car crash, I know what I'll see can't be good, but I still have the need to look.!!!!

smart move- from previous posts they didn't leave it on the board but went after people beyond that

Unfortunately that group does have several members who have taken things to the extreme by harassing people online and in several cases even extending into the offline world. This has scared several members which is unfortunate however this kind of abuse does not scare some of us and simply serves to piss us off. I enjoy being a generally laid back guy however I can be a real a**hole if I want to be and in this case several of us have manged to beat them back and run them off via various means including simply working with EM's online team to have a few Facebook accounts shut down. It takes a lot more work for individual members to get Facebook to listen to us however when a company which actually pays them for advertising gets involved then Facebook takes things more seriously and moves a lot faster in helping stomp out the worst offenders. :D

SO PAUL's DAD GAVE HIM A WATCH .
I HAVE NO IDEA WHY HE WANTS TO GIVE US ALL HIS DAD's WATCH .

IF PAUL's DAD HAD GIVEN HIM A MICKY MOUSE WATCH ,
WOULD HE BE EQUIPPING THE ELIO WITH DISNEY DIALS ?

I HATE THE ELGIN DASH . ALL I WANT ARE CLEAN SIMPLE CONVENTIONAL GAUGES .

THE VISIBLE MOVING NEEDLE CONVEYS MORE INFORMATION THAN YOU AND SEE
THROUGH A LITTLE WINDOW .
THIS ISN'T A WATCH , IT's A CAR & YOU NEED TO KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD .

THE ELGIN DASH REQUIRES YOU TO TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD AND REFOCUS
IN ORDER TO READ , NOT JUST SEE THE NUMBERS .

AN OPEN GAUGE CAN CONVEY ALL OF THAT AS WELL AS
A RISING OR FALLING NEEDLE WITH PERIPHERAL VISION OR AT A GLANCE .

THE ELGIN DASH CANNOT LAST , IT IS A GIMMICK THAT TOO MANY PEOPLE WILL COMPLAIN ABOUT .
I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH OFFERING IT AS AN OPTION . I DON'T EVEN HAVE A PROBLEM
IF YOU HAVE TO PAY A LITTLE EXTRA TO GER NORMAL GAUGES .

I DO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH FORCING A BAD IDEA ON PEOPLE BECAUSE OF AN
ODDBALL WATCH THAT WORKED SO WELL THAT THEY HAVEN'T BEEN MADE IN 50 YEARS .

I opened an account on farcebook and deactivated it within minutes.
I was quickly reminded of why I would prefer to have an abscessed tooth.
There's just no way I'm going to give my real name in posts to that collective puddle of slime.
And there's certainly no way that I'm going to make the required information active on a site with it's record of security breeches.
I am truely sorry, but, as much as I want to, I can't help on this one.
Those that already have an account and don't mind mixing it up in that snake pit, God bless. You're braver than I am.
I feel extremely bad about it, but I've seen what can happen when FB goes wrong.

EDIT: In addition to all that, my name isn't common at all.
If I remember correctly, the last time I checked, there were only three of me in the entire country.
The thing that gets me is that the person that runs that site apparently doesn't have to provide their real name.
So why should I have to provide mine to post there?

It's a shame. It's got to be just killing the reservation rate.
It is what it is. Elio Motors in their own defense should reply to accusations on that website.

Why would you have concerns about using your real name when expressing your real beliefs? Frankly, I think we should be required to use our real names when posting on any social media site. We may be more mindful of what we say. I think Elio should have had access to a little more private source funding before they started taking reservations.

Isn't that like saying Paul Elio is forcing his Elio on us or certain other parts of the Elio individuals don't like?
The Concept is named the Elio not the Brower. lol I think the Elgin is a very clean, simple, and unique to the Elio design. You haven't even seen and or used the Elgin dash to give it such a negative review beyond the styling. When I first saw the Elgin I said "WTF is that?". As time went by I warmed up to the idea and now I actually like the unique styling.

50 years ago I was 18 and there were some pretty cool things in the day that I consider timeless designs.
Heck, I furnish my home with 100 year old replica furniture that was designed to be timeless. Craftsman style homes of the 1920's are still being built today.

Please stop SHOUTING and trying to convince Paul to change his mind on providing my new favorite Elio feature. lol I'm just kidding. Feel what you feel and say what you want, I respect your opinion.

I should note that when I first saw the Elio in 2008 it's styling with the more retro open fenders reminded me of the hot rods I loved as a kid. If Elio makes it......mine will have open wheels, Indian Fenders, two tone paint, baby moons and as many other retro options that fit the the Elio's styling without going crazy overboard with fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror........wait a minute.........

The Elgin dash fits perfectly for my needs. Sorry Elgin Dash Haters. I appreciate the creative genious of whoever came up with this retro Elio rendering. I'd like to see it in Teal/aqua and White similar to Harley's two tone color scheme.

Yes, I do think that if the majority of people hate and/or prefer not to have the Elgin in two polls, it is a little like forcing the thing on them.

"Hey you majority of Elio buyers and potential buyers, you like the car? Then deal with my dash, otherwise get lost. I don't care if the situation is in a critical state or not, if you don't like the dash, too bad, I don't need you."

Good business? I...Well...
However, the story is that it was his father's watch, not a gift to Paul.

The only positive thing I'm probably ever going to say about the Elgin is that, yeah, now that you posted that picture again, I admit that it would look perfect in that one particular car.

Now all we have to do is convince Paul to give them all belaire paint jobs, vents, custom fenders, fins and baby moons to match the dashes.

I only post my real feelings here because I'm pretty certain no-one will stalk me because of them. :D

I understand where you're coming from Rick, but in my experience, I've found that there are likely to be more unbalanced minds among the detractors of something like this than there are among the supporters. Especially since many of them already feel they've been wronged through no fault of their own, be that true or not.

Like I said, my name is so uncommon that it would be child's play for anyone with the slightest skill at basic hacking, or even simple deduction for that matter, to find my physical location with just my name. While I'm fully prepared to defend my home, I can't, with certainty, predict what can happen outside of my home during any day's normal routine.

Unfortunately, worst case scenerios have happened that have involved both Facebook and Craig's List interaction.

Some in the group being discussed here have already proven their "level of integrity" if you will.
Unlike almost everyone here, some members of that group don't seem to be able to handle civil discourse.

Some people just don't see the world as others do and some just don't play at all.
I've had to deal with with extreme cases of both more than once.

While I've proven that I'm a bad-ass when it comes to in-the-moment crisis situations a few times, why take the chance.
The best state of mind is to be aware of your surroundings at all times and be aware that it doesn't always happen to someone else.

It's sad that the world is that way and that I should have to fear the possible consequences of "expressing my real beliefs".

If my name were John Smith, I'd probably jump in and kick some verbal ass over there.
But, like you said, it is what it is. I recognize exactly that and I'm choosing my course of inaction accordingly.

I'll happily take whatever the final specs in the end. I'd rather look at it as a Harley FatBoy Paint Job.

Don't even get me started about real names on the internet.

A small confession: I didn't mean to create THIS account with my real name, and its one of my only with it....

The first rule of internet safety is to never give anyone you don't know any of your real information. That will always be the first rule of internet safety. Period, The End. Any attempt to force anyone to reveal their real name is just wrong.
