It is what it is. Elio Motors in their own defense should reply to accusations on that website.

Why would you have concerns about using your real name when expressing your real beliefs? Frankly, I think we should be required to use our real names when posting on any social media site. We may be more mindful of what we say. I think Elio should have had access to a little more private source funding before they started taking reservations.
There are a lot of unhinged individuals and activist groups out there. Just as Benjamin Franklin published the Poor Richard's Almanac anonymously at first (if memory serves), sometimes it is best to maintain a low profile. I agree that we should be mindful of our words, and your comments about funding and reservations.

I am still a hopefull Elio fan, but no longer have the desire to defend any deceptive marketing practices that caused the haters to turn on Elio. Think about it for awhile. If you don't see at least three or four marketing ploys that were pulled off on all of us, your head would have to be burried in the sand. Since I have a stake in the game, I will still be a fan until the end, but I will not defend any of the marketing stunts that Elio clearly pulled to deceive people. No reason to rehash, but I see the validity of the hater reasoning, just as much as the fan. While I don't agree with all their comments, I really don't dismiss them as a bunch of complainers either, and would have to admit, Elio earned their distain. Just my opinion.
Good points. Right or wrong, the "haters" seem to be upset that they have been ripped off and that Elio continues to rip other people off. On the other hand, the "lovers" seem to see Paul as Underdog fighting for truth, justice and the American Way. It is understandable that both groups could see the other as a bit over the top.

I think most of it comes down to money. I don't think that there would be any complaint web sites had Elio limited their public fundraising to selling a t-shirt/bumper sticker combo for $100.

Show your support or disdain for the elgin dash shown @ 4:18 in the clip.

With the 'old school' Metro dash, I could keep my eyes on the road and still know approximately how fast I was going. Early on with those types of dashes, I would know what position the "needle" was in at particular speeds. I could tell my speed with only my peripheral vison. Not only that, the numbers are too small and too close together with no graduations between, say, 60mph and 50mph. For those reasons, I feel this dash is less safe than the style that's in the P4 at present. Most of the dash is blank, wasted, space. Don't I keep hearing that two top priorities with the Elio are safety and handling? With all due respect (truely), I don't think I want to sacrifice safety, looks and user-friendliness for someone else's sentimentality. I don't think I would ever get used to it and I think it would feel extremely clunky for as long as I owned the vehicle. What say ye all?

With so much tech out there I would prefer a digital dash. With a good OBD2 bluetooth reader transmitter you can customize at will. Take o look at what is available on the market right now. OBDlink & https://www.obdsoftware.net/ are a good start at a very reasonable cost

When I went all in, I did so, because I can afford to lose the 1k, and it was explained clearly in the agreement.

What first pissed me off was when Elio announced they were no longer seeking funding, and were going to stop the 50% bonus program. It is my belief, that forced a bunch of $100 reservation holders, that probably don't have an extra 1k to gamble, to try to come up with the money to not lose the bonus. If Elio had been honest and admitted they did not in fact, have the funding, most people could have made their choice to gamble money they may or may not have, based on fact, and not deception. Once they were sucked in, Elio brought back the bonus, supposedly because it was the " right thing to do". The deception would have continued way beyond that point if Paul did not have to explain to Caddo Parrish how he couldn't meet the hiring deadline and needed a six month extension to raise funds. That was the end of the Ra Ra cheerleader part of it for me. Now it's just, hope for the best, expect the worst, and take what you get. Instead of just producing a box with an Elgin dash on request at the showings, why not put it in the prototype, and let people make an honest decision with their reservation dollars?

Welcome to the forum Jim. OBD has been addressed in prior links. It still hasn't been decided whether it will be obd 1 or 2, or if it will be compatible. Look forward to reading posts from another Floridian.

.WHAT I MEAN BY PAUL FORCING THE ELGIN DASH ON US IS ELIO's STEADFAST REFUSAL
TO OFFER AN ALTERNATIVE , LIKE WHAT IS ALREADY IN THE P-4 !

AT $2000 EXTRA THE INFINATE SKYZ DASH IS NOT A REALISTIC ALTERNATIVE IN A $6800 CAR .

AS FOR MAKING MY OWN CAR , WHY YES I AM . IT IS A MESSERSCHMITT TIGER I AM BUILDING
FROM SCRATCH WITH A HONDA 600 Z COUPE ENGINE , AFCO SHOCKS & WILWOOD BRAKES .

THE DASH HAS SIMPLE ROUND VINTAGE DIALS WITH FUEL & TEMP GAUGES NOT FOUND ON THE ORIGINAL CARS .
WITH 36 HORSEPOWER IN A 700 POUND PACKAGE THIS ONE WILL BE A BOATLOAD OF FUN .

I DIDN'T THINK I WOULD HAVE THIS ONE DONE BEFORE MY ELIO COMES , BUT IT DOES LOOK
LIKE MY TANDEM SEAT CAR WILL HIT THE STREETS AROUND HERE BEFORE PAUL's DOES .

Elio does not force anything upon you or me and neither does Elio Motors refuse to offer anything. Elio is under no obligation to listen to your all caps missives. You did not put down a deposit for specific design features.

If you like outdated technology, that is fine, but don't expect that the Elio will be designed around your wishes. Don't get me wrong, I really like the Messerschmidt Kabinenroller, but I wouldn't hold them up as examples for contemporary automotive design when it comes to the controls, as much fun as they may be. And who ever said that the SkyzMatic [sp?] option will be $2,000?

That bonus ending is what made me go "All In." I don't begrudge it however, I wanted the best deal I could get and it was what pushed me "All In..." I still am rooting for Elio.

Amazing little project there David! Keep us posted on it's progress. Maybe you could start a new thread on it that we could follow. I'd love to see under that little hood (boot?)!
