Vote For The Elgin Dash

It is apparent that you put forth a lot of effort to explain or rationalize those of us who like the Elgin dash are wrong in doing so. I feel it is Paul's choice and many historic things have happened when someone didn't follow the crowd. And yet in your comments you seem to point out that it is better to follow the crowd with the very common dash that most every car currently has.

As said, in the end Paul and his team will make the choice of what dash to use. I hope it is the Elgin, and I also respect your wishes to have it the common, everyday, run of the mill, spiny pointy arm thingy, archaic analog dial style dash.

I've never spent a second saying you're "wrong".
Even this attempt does not change the fact that you're still dramatically in the minority.
If you'll notice, I also never once insinuated that those who love the Elgin are somehow uninformed or not seeing "the big picture".

Not that it relates to anything here...
But "following the crowd" and accepting everything as it was given is exactly what got all those docile people in history in trouble.

I have a complete Goldwing 1800 cluster that would look great in the Elio. Hopefully I can gut the POS Elgin dash for whatever parts I need to adapt the Honda unit to the Elio. Synchronizing the Honda speedometer with the Elio VSS could be a problem but not insurmountable. Then drop the Elgin hull into the trash (in a respectable manner) then the Elio should be just about perfect.

It is a rare thing to be in on the beginnings of a true "concept car." Pretty interesting to read the passion stirred by dashboards, gas caps and paint jobs. The energy, intelligence and experience displayed on this forum indicate a sharp crowd that manages multi-perspective discussions in a fairly peaceful manner. It is quite curious that more Elio-owners aren't on here.
It is because I am in the unique position of being a pre-buyer of an as-yet unfinished design that I feel the freedom to "wish" for it to be a certain way. We are usually offered a basic model with a book of options to choose from.
So, yeah, I do wish I could pick the dash, I do wish I could get my Elio in chrome yellow, BUT- if I got everything I ever wished for, I'd have been dead many years ago.....

I used to adjust all engine and transmission instruments on the UH1 helicopters so when everything was normal all the needles pointed straight up. A 1/4 second glance would tell all you need to know. Any needle not pointing to 12:00 would be noticed instantly and might require a closer look.

Just watched the video again. Wow. Really hate that MPH gauge. If he must do that, why not just do a big digital readout, like Knight Rider used. Then we could push a fantasy button, and watch them climb up like it did when KITT was in super pursuit mode.

But to me, this isn't as big as deal as putting the gas cap on the wrong side of the car. I can live with this better, least feel that way now.

Looking forward to my Elio!! Hope some well to do people did the paper work, got the investor info and have wrote some big checks for Paul to build them prototypes for testing.

No-one has ever accused my '04 Stang of having an ugly or out-of-style-design dash.
Quite the contrary concerning everything about the car, inside and out.
