I have found that within the lexicon of American English there are MANY phrases and expressions which contain reference to GOD, but they are not typically used in a manner which suggests that the speaker, or writer, is ACTUALLY calling for action or attention from the Christian deity. So, I have always thought it wise to use the lower case when it's 'just an expression', such as "god it's cold out here." ,as opposed to when one is in actuality calling upon the Lord for something, i.e. "In God's name we pray...". Might not be church doctrine exactly, but it's been my habit out of respect and a wish not to use God in vain.
I do wonder though, if I'd used "for allah's sake", would anyone have mentioned it? Other than the thousands of die-hards that are declaring jihad as we speak, that is.
The REAL question is though, what do we do with the ubiquetous OMG? or omg or is it omG?
Not sure how long this line of the thread will be allowed, but I'll bite for a little bit...
In my opinion, saying "god it's cold" or "God it's cold" is the same thing and both can be offensive.
Likewise, OMG can be offensive as well.
However, where do you draw the line at offense?
OMW (Oh My Word) just replaced God with Word, and we all know that "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God" So replacing God with Word still refers to God and can be offensive.
Saying Gosh, can actually be just as bad. This is what I do, but it's still just replacing God with a similar word, but we all know the intent.
Regardless, I say Oh my gosh. I don't say God or type God or god unless I'm referring to my Savior. I do type God when referring to Him, though to some even that may be offensive, hence G*D.
Interesting...

Too many people get too offended, too easily!
Well, lets be careful here...
I agree with you on principal, however:
Offended does not necessarily mean radical about it.
If I'm watching TV and I hear "Oh my God" being used a lot, that offends me. Maybe just a eye-roll. Maybe to the point of turning the channel. But just 'cause I'm offended doesn't turn me into an activist where I'll boycott the station and try to get all the actors fired. Just something that I don't like.
Maybe offended isn't the correct word. Maybe I'm aware of coarse language. Doesn't necessarily offend me, but I don't necessarily like it.
Does that make any sense at all?
of·fend·ed - resentful or annoyed, typically as a result of a perceived insult.
See, that really doesn't fit... I don't feel insulted.

Aside from that, if it makes you so uncomfortable to "Listen" to the clarity that some folks have tried to offer to explain why it's none of our business, what where, when, and who EM operates , you can keep on rattling the bars, or open the door and walk into the sunlight, and enjoy the fresh air of positive ions and understand a basic tenant of the operation of American businesses that it's none of our business!
I GET IT! The phrases "none of our buisness" and "not an investor", and "contract doesn't guarantee....", etc.. etc... Have been used so many times on this site I'm not sure a blind orangutan could possibly miss it. I don't think I need the point reiterated yet again. It's 'clarity' and sunshininess, and even that thing about the ions is well and repeatedly established like a background music for this site. The latest incarnation about 'American business and none of our business' I hear as kind of a tropical merengue in b flat. Kinda catchy, really. You might have something there for the next Republican convention if you can work in a few anti-socialist references and build it up to a big finish. But I digress. My point was simply that it doesn't MATTER, not that I don't understand it. (Or that I'm lacking in some kind of ions......)
If nothing else, look at it this way..... What ELSE is anyone supposed to discuss on this site? It's called Elio OWNERS. Obviously, none of us own ANYTHING even close to an Elio. According to the 'contract' and the 'none-of-your-buisness' gang, we don't even own the right to curiosity. The whole thing reminds me of an episode of the 'Twilight Zone'.............

"Gee, Bob, what color are you going to get? If it's ever produced that is..... not that I have any doubt that it will be of course...... Just that I realize there is NO obligation on the part of Elio motors or it's affiliates to ever actually produce anything...... But I'm sure they will.... As soon as the time is right......"
"No Dan, you're right....Wouldn't want to rush anything.......I've been thinking about that great-looking green one....if they decide to keep that color in the final line-up......... What about you Mary?"
"Gee Dan, I think that creamsickle is just dreamy, but the Marshmallow would match my new purse and shoes so nicely......I just can't decide."
"Well Mary, that's why 'He' has given us plenty of time to think it over......Such a swell guy....A real genius among geniuses, eh Dan?"
"Oh, you bet! 'He's' just swell! Been thinking about that licorice color myself. Not that I would mind getting that really keen red. Say, I wonder if it could be made available in both colors, like a two-tone or someth....". (Dan vanishes in a puff of smoke...)
" Well Bob, it was bound to happen. The way he was questioning everything, making suggestions, practically DEMANDING of all the nerve. That Dan...he really had it coming...... Good thing we're protected from 'trolls' like that."
"Yes Mary,.... A very good thing......"

I would venture that we are going a bit too far down this rabbit hole. But speaking to much of your comment I can only say that god(God) has been adopted as a word into the secular vocabulary and it means little to those who use it, capitalized or not. It's not going to change at this point. So you can spend your life railing against it, or just shake your head and move on. There are many, many things I'm forced to shake my head at these days. But I know I can't change it, just try to live with it. That's why I find the humor in everything...... if they only knew what I find so amusing....
