They don't send out notices they just cut your IP.
So some have several IP's, Friends or a smarter computer tech.

Many would be surprised just how intelligent the forum software is. Most times the forum administrator knows instantly If someone who was banned previously comes back under a new name however we generally just let them go until they become a problem.

Only the forum administrator, Okuma Steve, has access to user accounts and the ban lists. The rest of us are simply moderators. :)

I hope that clears things up, Wayne. :D

Under what reasoning would anyone get banned by an administrator?
Certainly not for simply being a dissenter and vocalizing an opinion...

just curious, can you provide a link to a deceptive advertisement .... if so, I'd really like to see it
84mpg/49mpg - this originally came from computer simulations by Linamar (formerly McLaren). I don't have the links, but it was recorded in the Pontiac meeting proposals in 2010. This was based on a 70hp, 1.0l engine, P2 bodywork, and approximately 900lb curb weight. All of the advertising since has based on those projections, even though the body work / aerodynamics has changed significantly (worse on P3, better on P4), and the engine specs have changed significantly. Paul claimed well over a year ago that the computer simulations were at 81mpg highway, even before the P4 was built. That figure has not changed nor improved for over 1 year, but the advertising continues to claim 84mpg.

In early 2013, and for a significant amount of time, the website claimed a 5-start crash rating. Since the 5-star rating can only be offered by an independent source, complaints were made, and legal action threatened, and elio took down the claim, and modified it to "anticipated".

The famous snow video claims that every elio comes with abs and traction control. No elio has ever been built with abs or traction control.

The early reservation agreement listed elio's address as 1855 E Southern Ave, Suite 204, Mesa, AZ 85204. That address was never owned or rented by elio motors. It was, and still is the office of Genesis Concept and Design, LLC. genesiscd.com They did the original (P2) design for the elio. You can see some of the work on their website. Yellow was one of the original projected 8 colors, btw. Mike and Dave were nice guys, and believed in the elio (at least they did 2 years ago), but were unaware that elio was using their address on the reservation forms.

Over 18 months ago, paul elio / elio motors admitted that they were $300 over their $6800 target price. He personally told me they were $400-450 over in October 2013. He recently admitted that they are now $500 over. Nonetheless, the advertising (fundraising) claims is still stuck at $6800, even though the delta is increasing.

There is a lot more, but that is a good start. Enjoy.

Thank you. One more, but it might not be elio's doing.

PRWEB has been known to make up their own headlines, but if elio motors actually initiated this feed, it smells pretty fishy. Dave Shembri has been on elio's board since at least November 2013.

If elio released that info, rather than PRWEB just making it up, it would be a strong indicator of trying to make a plausible excuse for the engine unveiling.

Oh, and speaking of the engine unveiling, do you remember paul saying in mid-October that the engine had been assembled and dry run, and would be on the dyno by November 15? Do you remember the blogs promising us full info on the engine build and completion?

Nope, we have plenty of those who have been members here for a long time. :)

Generally what it takes to get banned is repeatedly being disruptive to the general conversational flow, repeatedly posting false information, repeatedly attacking other members, and/or repeatedly posting offensive or inappropriate images and/or statements.

Members of this forum are adults and we try to treat them as such so we do not feel the need to threaten them with banning and generally do not. Repeat offenders who could be candidates for banning should know who they are as they would have been repeatedly contacted by the moderators over inappropriate posts and/or have repeatedly seen their posts edited or removed. I doubt anyone who has been banned has been truly surprised when it happens however I am sure most of them blame the moderators for supposedly not being accepting of opposing viewpoints instead of realizing that they were banned for their actions and not their words.

It is very rare for active members to be banned. Since I have been a moderator here I believe Okuma Steve has only decided to soft ban less than 10 members and I do not believe he has hard banned any non spammers at all. As a result this the moderation team is also aware that most of the banned have returned under different forum accounts and a few have been banned more than once. :D

"To laugh is to risk appearing the fool" and to reserve an Elio likewise. But that was ALWAYS a possibility. There are really only two ways this can end. Either the whole thing goes belly-up and you look like an idiot, or it all works and you are a GENIUS! But that never changed from day one. You took a chance and you OWN the outcome. It's either "d@mn I'm good!", or " d@mn that was stupid". But if you go through life worried about what the crowd thinks you'll never rise above them. Who cares what 'they' think?

I'll still have my $1,000 Tee Shirt
& Bumper Sticker.......
