I resurfaced when I actually SAW, SAT IN, AND WALKED AROUND TOUCHING THE WHOLE CAR IN PERSON!!There are some new, there are also a lot of members that joined over time that don't usually post.
The resurfaced when the P5 showed up.
That Elgin dash is VERY COOL when you actually see it in person. I was skeptical too until I saw how seamlessly it fits into the space and how it LIGHTS UP. I have nothing but praise for it. It does it's job, neatly and without clutter. Minimalist style in this case is useful and apropos. My thoughts exactly. Maybe the manufacturer was having trouble selling them and gave EM a "deal". Also, it may be that the labor cost to install them is low. At the EM assembly plant it might be that they will just have to stick one part (the Elgin) in the dash and connect a wire or two. With a conventional dash there are a lot more parts and time involved.
Don't throw yours away! Send it to me. I'd like to have a spare one.I had wondered about this. Changing to a moving needle and stationary background dial, while using everything else would be much more economical. It may be tedious, but we would be throwing the elgin gauges away so why not try it.
Have you actually SEEN the Elgin dash in person? I think you'd like it more if you did. Just sayin'.I don't know about anyone else but I am having a blast with this dash thing.I have never said I "Hate" the Elgin dash but I sure would consider another option if it were offered.

The other danger is from following traffic. A following driver might see you as two tail/brake lights with a high center brake light not knowing the center light is 8 feet closer than the outboard lights. Invitation to be rear ended. Something to think about.
Hey! And what about a 3rd high center taillight? I think a flat LED full width across the roof flush with the trunk lid would be very visible.
