The pill bug or rolly polly is a good model for both trailers and fenders.

You know, that's a darned good idea now that you posted the picture. I am trying to think of something technical-ish but am caught up in the aesthetic.
This does look great for the front but elongating the rear into a stinger kind of shape maybe? It seems intuitive to imagine that shape as reducing turbulence in the ol' slipstream.

Perhaps, if the two points were themselves on a swivel, then the trailer tire(s) would not have to swivel and it would preclude the trailer's side-to-side motion from affecting the steering... I fear the swivel point would have to encircle the rear tire of the Elio. I am not sure how well this would fit.

Should be fairly simple to fabricate a "reciever hitch" that bolts to the frame above the rear suspension swing-arm. This should easily fit (hidden) behind the black plastic wheel cover. So, when your not towing, the only thing visible would be a small access hole, about a foot below the license plate. :)

I went to their website. I would like to see the hitch. It would have to hinge in two axis. One axis for going over bumps and curbs,; the second for turning corners. However, the vertical would need a vertical pin to keep the trailer from falling over. I hope this is not too technical.;) There must be a simple explanation.

Put two pivots in a row... one pivots up and down only and the other pivots left and right only... Should work.

I think the real issue will be to get someone like Draw-Tite or Hidden Hitch to build the hitch kit and that probably won't happen until the Elio is in production. Unless you have the talent to do it yourself and my guess would be that most of us don't.
