JD Ds have one exhaust, the RH pipe is the air intake. Seen a few pullers run duals on the putt putts tho.

I think there was an Oliver with factory duals, one of the Detroit Diesel powered ones, but I'd have to do some research.

Tractor junkie? If you ever come to Oregon, take the drive down I-5 from Eugene to Cottage Grove. You will pass a farm where they have a lot of old tractors and other farm equipment all lined up the length of a field. It is on the East side of the road. :-) Z

please don't everyone throw stones at me, but it is 2014 and we are all huddled around the fireplace talking about another gasoline burning carbon-producing engine !

84 MPG is awesome !

BUT …

it still means we have to deal with

oil changes
spark plugs
coolant fluids and radiators
gas tanks
exhaust systems
etc
etc
etc

when the Sparrow was being conceived, the bugs being worked out …we were all sitting around discussing amps and watts and volts and battery ranges, etc

one of the coolest cars on the road ( my humble opinion) is the TESLA, and they HAVE managed to jump over the hurdles without any faults

i still have this custom trailer with two 300 watt panels ..

it IS strange......when the Sparrow was being conceived, the bugs being worked out …we were all sitting around discussing amps and watts and volts and battery ranges, etc

No hurdles for the tesla? How about the PRICE? Great, we've solved the carbon problem of rich people driving home to their 20,000 square foot mansions where they already have the same power consumption as a small town!
I agree that the ICE is antiquated technology, and we should have found something better by now, but it's still the cheapest thing going, and hydrocarbon fuel is still too cheap to compete with barring some new innovation to make batteries MUCH cheaper, lighter, and with better power density, reliability, and availability of raw materials. Mineral resources for making batteries are NOT infinite any more than is petrolium. And, lots of us actually LIVE in the north where cars need heat, and lots of it at -20 degrees. Running a heater would drain batteries flat in no time, especially when they are themselves at -20 degrees and down to 30 or 40% of their normal usable capacity.
There are at least 100 of us average schmucks for every rich person, and we all use fuel too, it just hurts our wallets more. Substantive change will have to happen with US, not the small minority at the top. Or is this the solution where the haves drive Teslas and the rest take the BUS?

I've always loved tractors too, but I must admit my knowledge is limited. I somehow thought it might be a 1438.
As for the Olivers, I have a friend that owns a couple and in an attempt to help him diagnose a problem, I did a bit of reading on them. Seems that certain Oliver's had some difficulty with overheating and someone along the way discovered that if they eliminated the exhaust crossover and went to two exhaust stacks, one front and one rear, it helped old "Oliver' keep his cool. Hope this is right, it's been several years.

No stones...... but..........how many ordinary Joe's, like myself could afford a rig like that?
Besides, what do you pull that trailer with? Not a Tesla I hope, you still have to plug them in.......somewhere..........

No he had it parked in front of my house. Question did they crash test the Sparrow? It looks like it would be so much splatter if hit by something of size.

I have heard that the Tesla Isn't really that green. It also requires the power grid which, in many areas of the country, is operating at (near) full capacity. I read somewhere, that if every house in America where to "unplug" all of the electronic device "chargers", while not in use, It would reduce power needs by 2 power plants! So, How many power plants would have to be "added" to handle even 1% of the population converting to EV?

Not disputing, as I don't know, but that sounds pretty far fetched!
