Seriously guys, I hate advertising as much as anyone, but EM does need to start getting the word out to a wider audience now. You need to establish demand for your product so there is a large pool of customers ready to buy when you get to market and right now they are likely to recoup some, if not all, of their ad spend in reservations and stock purchases. Besides, TV ads aren't as expensive as you may think. The prime spots are costly, sure, but 2nd or 3rd tier time slots are fairly cheap even on popular channels (i.e. pay for themselves a couple of times over if each spot prompts just one reservation).

Ok, but give me a scenario where this helps Elio? more pre-orders? more awareness? trying to sway the loan angle, I just don't see it..

Of the projected 250,000 machines they intend to produce each year, only 1/5 of those are spoken for by current reservations. Without further marketing, that would be 200,000 machines with no buyers, being built and stored until word slowly gets out. I don't think Elio's business model can support that.

"only 1/5 of those are spoken for by current reservations". I'm sure there will be many , many folks when they sit down to write a check won't.

If you can't see where more public awareness of the Elio is a positive thing It's not clear to me that explaining it to you would help. I'll just say that there are over 310 million people in the US. Of those, only about 49 thousand are reservation holders. That's 0.017% of the population. Sounds like a great opportunity to expand awareness.

A startup company should spend their Millions of available limited venture capital funding on PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT. Build a completed working concept prototype and use "it" as 'advertising' to market other venture capitalist's (Private or ATVM) for the additional funding needed to actually start producing a product to sell.

EM has separated product development from marketing. It seems they have spent the lion's share of their available venture funding on marketing. Otherwise, we would see a completed, fully operational, tested P5. A Popeil quote, "The product that sells best is one that sells itself." The Elio dream has sold all of us, no actual Elio required.

If there is proven market demand for the Elio concept, build it, get it on the road, and it will sell itself. EM is having difficulty getting the production prototype built WTH. EM's new advertising campaign could generate a 100,000 + pre-orders and they would be no closer to production. Yes, I am being armchair critical, but seriously guys, the clock is ticking and the time has come to just do it.

The fact that people have to put down some money to get a reservation will likely mean a large majority will follow through. They've already pulled out their checkbooks once. So I suspect nearly 100% follow through for the $1k all-in group and above half for all but the minimum $100 want-ins. On top of that, I think with a bit of advertising, they could easily double the reservation list as soon as they announce they the ATVM loan or private funding is secured to start production. Even though I bought stock, I'm waiting to reserve until I'm certain that the Elio will actually go into production.

Ok, so now more are aware, so...? what's the end game on ads this early? more reservations? ok, could they get the $200M in reservations soon enough to get things moving? no, so they get a few more adding much less then the money needed, I realize the more money the better, but it's like getting my kid to kick in for the mortgage, sure his $20 would be nice, but it's not really going to make a dent in it.. likewise a few thousand more people in will help, but it's far from getting to that magic number. But unless they really get a lot more in line in the next 11 months, I just don't think the money spent will return more money in reservations. With less then a year to go I just think there is another reason than to get a little extra money for the start up. I think there is another angle, that's all..

Interesting to assume 100% 1k's, some who are no longer with us, others who've bit the bullet and can't wait, others who have placed multiple "orders", and might be playing the market with the hope their first units will be a "must have" for folks who see one on the road, have the $, and pay a premium (my plan)
right now, if it happens I will be the owner of the 7013 to roll off the line. I believe There will be a small window of opportunity, along with my 1k, I got $100all, $100 want- so I got 3 covered, and after the first, should I can't sell it, I walk away dropping $100.00
Of course this assumes they're ever produced. iIf not, my stock certificate and my poster can be used as floor mats
