Yes, It's a long walk around to the other side. lol The good news with the narrow Elio is the gas filler hose will conveniently reach the capless tank opening regardless of which side of the pump we're on.

My Dad owned a FULL SERVICE Texaco Station. FULL SERVICE (in case you've never experienced it lol) means customers drove up to the pump, not caring where the gas cap was and I greeted them with a smile, filled their tank, checked the oil, cleaned their bug spattered windows and headlights, took their money at the til, and thanked them for their business. I hear ya. I concede I'm one of those, but I do agree it is not based on logic. For me the cap on one side is acceptable but the bulge kind of trips me up. This is because the bulge is a sculpted thing and the cap is flush so at least the shape is the same on both sides.

I thought about that too but there are a LOT of high performance cars with asymmetrical hoods and they look fine in person.

EDIT: Oregon is the Western state where you can't pump your own fuel. I knew a group of adults who couldn't figure out how to pump their own gas and had to get help. I didn't say they were the sharpest tools in the shed but still...

I pump my own gas and live in Idaho. We can even chop our own firewood. No crap goin on here! We even passed autocycle legislation into law last year........we are a cutting edge State.

I have a 68 Vette with the 427 and that hood opens from the windshield forward and if there is a problem the hood comes off easily.

I don't care if the old exhaust did hang down slightly beneath the vehicle like all other cars. I like it a lot better than the hernia bulge!

I know a good muffler shop that can easily install an exhaust system like this. I would then remove the hernia bulge, fill in the holes, and repaint it. This would restore the attractive lines on that side

"We" wanted more head room and "we" voiced concern regarding ground clearance for road conditions and road damage. For everything given we have to compensate some where else. Just the way it is.
