Doesn't surprise me at all. Grew up in NJ. First summer after high school ('62) worked the grave yard shift at a gas station between the Catskills and NY City. It wasn't bad enough running the pumps, but trying to figure out where the gas cap was and how to get at it on some of the older cars (like '56 Chevys) was a bear the first time around.
I'll bet. Especially the ones with the hidden, license plate gas caps.

The 56 Chevy's had it behind the left tail light, you'd turn a little bar and it would fold down

On the 55 Chevy push in the little round reflector on the tail light and it would pop out and up.

I think the 55 or 56 Caddy had it in the same place.

Here's mine, can't tell you how many people bent my license plate up looking for it.

Yep. The first one I ran into during my 'full-service gas station attendant' days gave me pause. Walked back and forth around the back of the car three times. :noidea: The driver finally got out laughing when I started tugging on the license plate. :nono:

Speaking of "asymmetrical"...Has anyone here noticed that the Elio only has 3 wheels? :D
Good one.

Concerning the horrible situation of the Elio not being perfectly symmetrical...

A symmetrical vehicle is status-quo uncompromising unimaginative "Old School".
The Elio has never been about being conservative "Old School".

Open your mind. Be just a tad progressive and flexible.

From experience...

Acknowledge, come to know, embrace, and befriend, your OCD.
Do not let it completely control your life.
Regard it as a challenge.

You'll accomplish much more...
You'll get more out of life...

And you'll be much happier.

Speaking of "asymmetrical".....
Has anyone looked up the definition of that word?
To quote from the Princess Bride .....
Inigo Montoya: "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
But just for yucks and giggles, the car pictured below is "asymmetrical"
....not identical on both sides of a central line; unsymmetrical; lacking symmetry....

But for my money, one of the most beautiful cars ever built!
