I jumped all in at the $100.00 level on the 12th of December 2013. I am very optimistic at this point and right now I give it an 8. My concern is that the Elio will be playing with the big boys and they can play dirty. The Elio will become the America VW bug. A inexpensive vehicle for the masses. That will be seen as a threat to the automobile industry throughout the world. Remember that the world is now controlled by "Big Business". They may hinder the manufacturing of the Elio. That's my take on things. Anyone else have those same concerns?

I am less concerned about this, Jayne, simply because Paul Elio and his board and other employees all come from "the other side". They have been there, done that and appear to have the insider's edge for knowing how to survive. I am counting on that to make it possible for me to own an Elio. :) Z

Microsoft and Apple got in when computers were new (or the popularity was just starting). Completely different than a car company jumping into the car market.

Kind of like a start up grocery store trying to compete with Wal-Mart, Kmart, DG etc.

Many people keep talking about the Elio 'car'. It is a motorcycle, and as such will not have to be competing with the big boys. Many automotive standards do not apply to this vehicle. Think about it as a Harley or Indian or any of the others. They do not compete with, nor do they answer to the automotive industry. They have their own stores, not like car dealerships. The Tesla issues that came up stalled and threatened them because they are competing within the industry. Elio will not run into the same obstacles or threats that Tesla did. My confidence level is still at 10, and I've been all in for awhile. I see nothing but positives. The Pep Boys deal (like them or not) is a giant leap forward, and even though not everyone has access to a PB, I'm sure other arrangements/partnerships will be forged to assure service availability. Call me a dreamer, but I believe this vehicle will be built, and will be successful. New prototypes are on the horizon, and Shreveport will begin to be re-tooled once final design is determined. People complain about the 'anticipated 5 star crash rating', but until the product is done, it's all based on computer simulations, thus the 'anticipated' part. But remember, the Elio is not mandated to do crash tests, yet they plan to do them anyway. IMO, that speaks volumes about their intentions and their determination to get this built and satisfy their customers. I was probably an 8 when I first jumped on board, but I'm at 10 now.

I think different. They will probably be looking to see what Elio can do sales wise. If good, several things can happen. We will no doubt see 3 wheelers pop up in the Toyota, Gm, Ford and Chrysler line up.Probably better looking and someone will likely do a 3 wheel hybird in order to top mpg and certainly have a longer warranty. We may even see a deal like Chev had with Suzuki, another Geo thing. But for now I think the big boys are waiting to see acceptance .If Elio goes out of business after a few years, for us young people lots of bucks can be made later in life just by putting one or two away. Paul Elio is 65 years old, selling out to one of the big guys a few years off would be an option. Elio is not a public company, no stock or stock holders, just a few partners so it could be a simple "write us a check" sale. Also the 7k intro price will be double if high demand dictates.

My concern it that world wide there is 100 billion being invested in alternative fuel small personal vehicles similar to the Elio .There are at least three companies in the US that have working proto types

My point which was not clearly defined was that the founders we're optimists .Gates and Jobs we're pioneers but the key was they always kept ahead of the curve .

I'm not quite as Optimistic as some about Elio .100 Billion dollars is being spent world wide by the US,China and Europe to build Eco personal transportation .There are several other 3 wheel cars that are near production ready through out the world .I doubt Ellio will hit the $6800 mark with rising commodity prices .I also think that the first 3 wheeler to hit the market to be a success will be in the $9000 range and get 100 plus mpg .The largest manufactures of 3 wheel vehicles over the past 50 years has been India and China .

It isn't all about cost. The Elio will be American made and there is a cult like following no other prospective Eco vehicle has. I went all in in Oct 2013 and my confidence has continually improved. I upgraded twice and expect my $1K reservation number in the big release on Monday. I believe Elio will be the first to market and draw the most interest and I am convinced that will Elio and not some Chinese or Indian company will be the one that leads this personal transportation revolution
