Going with a 5 window myself, gotta have a rumble seat and a roll down back window, god I'm picky.

I've lived by the rule 'You get what you pay for' when making any major purchase. Cheap raises my inner red flag. What is it about EM's marketing an affordable (Cheap Commuter) that seems to defy the logic? We haven't seen and or driven the finished product. We are all eager to position ourselves to be the early adopters 'test the waters' on build quality, performance/handling, and long term reliability. A fleet of 50,000 + test pilot Elio's. Fun to be a part of, but it simply defies logic.

My first car was a '59 VW. I purchased it knowing without a doubt that it was cheap, reliable, and had a few built in quirks and no gas gauge. I got exactly what I paid for and liked it.

The Elio's one of three 'kickstarters' I've taken part in. My Robo 3D R1 [3D printer], and a new micro-computer [Pine64] that will be in my hot little hands in May...went for all the bells and whistles on that one ;). Elio Motors is the first stock investment I've made outside of my 401k, and logic be d*mned, I'm learning a lot about the process.

The build quality and reliability of the production model might be complete crap that turns into a creaky, leaky mess the instant the warranty period is over. Using the cheapest of cheap parts can do that. If we get at least three years of bumper-to-bumper warranty, I am willing to roll those $8k dice. I would have lost more than that in depreciation of most commuter cars I would have bought instead, and if the Elio turns out to be decent quality then it is a big win.

I had two people merge into my lane on top of me on my way home from work today on my motorcycle. Looking forward to something a little more visible for my commute.
