I wish they had an old style telescoping steering column. I have shorter than average legs, and longer than average arms (part gorilla).

I get tired having to recline the seat back so my arms are not cramped.

The majority of NEW vehicles today have "Tilting" steering wheels. Very few have "Telescoping" steering wheels.
It would be easier to install "Tilting" steering wheel in the ELIO. If you don't want it tilted, don't move it.. One model fits all.
You have to design the lower edge of the dash and heater box to accommodate any upward tilt. It's not just a matter of slapping a tilt wheel into the car as a replacement -- unless the design work has been done up front to make it work.

At the risk of cross posting, the language in the email "starting price excluding blah blah blah" struck me as interesting because it does NOT say "base price." So does starting mean the first 3 months of production (which would take care of current reservation holders), first year of production, or what? In other words, it is possible that EM has decided to make good on the $6800 base price for a limited period of time (undefined as yet). But it's the first time I've seen "starting price" in any EM communication.

Elio motors has stated several times in the last year that the target of $6800 is something that they are still making efforts ot reach. And they have said that currently they would have to charge $500 more than that if the Elio was being built now. So Base of $7300. Nothing will be sat in concrete until production is about to start and they have locked in shipment of the first parts. Everything is or can be negotiated with suppliers until then. Note: Elio motors has not told us why they changed from Cooper tires being the supplier to Bridgestone... It could be that Bridgestone gave them a better price, or a better tire, OR both. In any case I like that Elio motors has and is sticking to their guns to try to reach their target of $6800.
Actually, I believe that Cooper had a couple of large contracts come in that demanded all their excess manufacturing capacity -- starting NOW-- and without Elio being able to guarantee something on the order of 3/4 million tires per year, they couldn't wait around to see how things go. So EM has found another supplier.

Paul has said that what is important to him is high volume & low price. He also stated that keeping the price low, is a good way of "discouraging" competition.
A member of this group asked Jerome (as I remember) "why they don't raise the price to 10k, as they could surely justify the price." And his reply was, (basically) "we know we could but, it's important to keep it as affordable as possible for those who need affordable transportation.
So, I personally am not worried. "IF" they charge a bit more that $6800, It is because they must.
I'm the guy Jerome told that to in July 2014. It still stands.

This tour stop, in particular, is huge for us. The “Who's Who" of the auto industry is in attendance and we're in the birthplace of American manufacturing so there is a lot of buzz around our American-made vehicle. That's just one of the many reasons Elio Motors is receiving a lot of positive attention. In past years, auto shows have been known for showcasing the speed and power of muscle cars. However, the trends are changing and, even though performance is still a major factor, efficiency, practicality, and connectivity are on the rise. (ESPN) This trend is great for yours truly. The practicality of our three-wheeler is undeniable. An up to 84 MPG for a targeted $6,800* base price can put so much money back in the pockets of the people, while reducing our country's carbon footprint and reliance on foreign oil. It just makes sense. So we couldn’t agree more with the feedback we've been getting from our booth visitors.

Take, for instance, Pat and Katherine. They heard about us a couple of years ago on the news and, after some research, reserved their Elio. The style of the Elio in combination with the targeted price is what sold them. Seeing the P5 in person, they were very happy and Katherine added, "I'm so surprised at how much room I had in the back!"

The size of the Elio is a common topic in the booth, and it definitely was when Tom B. walked up to us. He stands tall at 6 feet, 8 inches. Many were anxious to see if he would fit comfortably. The result? Tom: "It felt good. I had enough headroom and Pam told me about the tilt steering wheel feature which would definitely come in handy."

We'll be here until Sunday, ready to show you the new P5 and answer any questions you may have. We're on the concourse near Hall B. And, another plus? You don't need a ticket to visit the Elio Motors booth. Hope to see you soon!

*Starting MSRP excludes options, destination/delivery charge, taxes, title and registration.

not sure why you are surprised ALL manufacturers have to cover those costs and they ain't gonna "eat it".

I sure hope it can be retrofitted!

Early in the IAV Development of
the 'Bespoke Elio Motor' Paul
mentioned that the IAV Engineers
were toying with the idea of adding
a turbo. There've been subsequent
indications of a turbo option in the
future. Most recently Paul said the
motor 'begs' for a turbo or words to
that effect.....Pretty sure the motor
design can handle one, just a
question of when???
