In New Mexico, it is legal to defend your property with deadly force. Those of us who legally carry concealed weapons have all been through the training. In some states, if someone car jacks you, you have to let them have your car. Here, you can ensure tax payers never have to support their stay on a federal facility.

New Mexico sounds great. California is a joke of a state when it comes to our laws and politics. I'm not even sure how your situation would work here, but I know of people who were going to break into someone else's house to burglarize them, fell through a roof window and broke some bones, then sued the home owner and won. What the f- kind of s- is that?!

The Skyzmatic or whatever it is called detects bumps and records from that point and will notify you on your cell phone where you can then see what is going on. It won't stop theft but it will let you see who did it at least.

Perhaps I'll add an alarm with it. If Elio offers an alarm and it's not very good, maybe I'll just buy a Viper alarm.

Do you know if the Skyzmatic thing is a one time payment, or a monthly payment? And do you need an ipad to have Skyzmatic?

It's just something I've been wondering, and worrying, about. I've had my car vandilzed before, a couple times actually, and seeing the pic you posted made me worry that if any a-hole wanted to mess with the car in a serious way, that area would be a prime target as it's more open and not as well covered or protected. Especially the parts that are covered in rubber. I don't know if they'd be easy to cut with a knife, or what. Or if the metal arms or pieces would be easy to break, but it just bothers me a little bit. Probably more than nomal because I've had to go through it before.

Of course, if I caught someone doing it, I'd happily do something about it. But it always happens when no one is around.

The components are mostly off-the-shelf parts that are used on other vehicles to keep costs down, so they should be a durable/tough as the vehicle they were originally designed for...exception may be the "A"-arms. That said, I'm not so sure the tube-style "A"-arms are going to be on the production model. I'm 'assuming' this because of the CAD crash test video that was one of the other threads. The front suspension looks like the "A"-arms are stamped steel (cheap to produce, just as durable, definitely not as cool looking). May be a good question if someone has the opportunity to catch one of the Elio showings.

The skyzmatic includes the iPad -- or at least it was supposed to when they introduced it at the consumer electronics show last January.

The Skyz system can monitor all the systems in the car without a monthly service charge; but you want the "internet enabled" features like remote door lock from your cell phone, the navigation system, open the garage door from the Elio, etc. you pay the monthly service fee. It's kind of like OnStar or U-Connect. Home much is that service? Unknown until it's up and running.

Paul originally intended to design an economy vehicle. He accidentally designed a vehicle that was also beautiful. Perhaps he does not realize this. He is an engineer.

TO ME ONE OF THE BEST AESTHETIC IMPROVEMENTS OF THE P-4 WAS THE HEADLIGHTS .

I HATED THE LITTLE PODS THAT STUCK OUT ON THE SIDES ON THE P-3 .

I THINK THE AERODYNAMIC FLUSH HEADLIGHTS AND THE ENCLOSED FENDERS WERE BOTH BIG WINNERS .

Totally agree . The frog eyes were hideous and my plan was to eliminate them by using 2 old school '30s Ford headlights .
The P4 headlights are modern and sleek and an equitable tradeoff for the new Tron fenders .

No prob, and I agree 100%, only an idiot does a crime close to home; or the ones that wants to get caught. I knew a couple of repeat offenders that couldn't hack having a job and having to pay bills, so shortly after they would get out for one thing, they get caught again to go back for the 3 squares and a cot.

I thought the A-arms were going to be cast? Isn't that what they have on the P4?
I don't know if stamped would be rigid enough for front suspension.

THAT DEPENDS ON THE MATERIAL , THICKNESS & HEIGHT OF THE STAMPINGS .
TRUCK FRAMES ARE STAMPED AREN'T THEY ?

Trouble is, the P4 headlights (which we all liked, I gather) are now passé. It's P5/E1 from now on .. and I don't like them nearly as much as the P4 version.
