If I were a spiteful Paul, I'd design the gas filler tube into the center hole in the Elgin dash, perhaps in the center of the tach instrument, to make it the most convenient gas filler design possible for those complaining about the filler being on the wrong side. This way, you could just reach out the window and fill your gas in the dash without ever stepping out!

How's that for being responsive to these complaints?:p

Got me chuckling !!, I thought topics of the gas filler were finished. (The Elgin Dash and colors continue to be favorite topics) Both of which are locked in. Simply, even pretty please, won't relocate it. If you've followed along, the final designs are close to, if not complete. As we communicate 25 units are being crafted, and the position of the filler, and the dash remain unchanged.
There are thousands of posts on the location of the filler, and BTW- BOTH SIDES ARE THE DRIVER'S SIDE!! (me smiling)

I think I have noticed the reoccurring forbidden topics like the gas door location, the dash, yellow etc. are usually posted by newer forum folks. So I say give them all a break as they may not had enough time to search these topics. Lets not diminish their enthusiasm. Just my 2 cents, no offense.

This is what I would change about the P5. I would support the exhaust pipe with 3 or 4 brackets. The body panel would go around the exhaust pipe with a bead molded into the edge for stiffness and glued to the brackets. The underside would be completely open for ventilation and it would be much smaller than the current bulge design.

Good drawing ,and totally doable. I'd have to have a mirrored one for the l/h side so I don't lose my mind, I'm weird about symmetry.

Your design attaches the exhaust directly to the frame. This would cause a horrendous vibration noise.

Ahh, good point and easy to get around. Rubber isolators on the frame mounting bolts, or several layers of exhaust wrap at each clamp area...Isolators sounds like a cleaner solution.

Nice drawing and concept. An alternative would be to consider an oval (elliptical) pipe, instead of the OEM round pipe, and then build that into a running board, with a matching one on the other side. This will provide you with both symmetry and the appearance of an integrated functional part, instead of just a bulge with no other purpose than to hide the exhaust. I haven't done the calculations but would guess the change in pressure drop would be negligible.
