Spark plugs are so yesterday. Lasers are the next wave:

Mazda is reported to be working on such a system and has filed a patent:

Laser or not, the EPA would still screw it up by insisting on making it work with their catalytic converter rules.
Look at how the Catalytic converters work in conjunction with O2 sensors and you will understand.

What I would like to see in a plug system is longevity. Better burn characteristics are attractive, but I wouldn't expect miracle results or anything. like that.

About 2 years ago, I researched some "multi-electrode" (e-3) plugs because my local parts guy recommended them. In a nut-shell, what I found was: The ground strap actually "hinders" flame spread...So, a plug with 3 (or more) grounds "blocking" flame spread, didn't make sense too me. An old "hot rodders" trick was to "side gap" the plugs by grinding away most of the electrode strap. The down side...plugs didn't last very long.
I am currently using Brisk LGS plugs in a few of my vehicles. Because they use use multiple ( side-gapped) electrodes, I don't think (barring failure) I will ever need to replace them. I have noticed "a bit " better mileage, and "a bit" better power. What impressed me is cold start. Noticeably better! I do plan on using them in my Elio.

They sound good, but at $13 each it would be $80 to change out my Nitro; I'll stick with my Bosch plugs .
In the Elio; maybe, and depending on how it performs with the OEM plugs, worth considering.

These are the plugs I use in my 70 Triumph Bonnie, side electrode no gaping, strange plugs, but I got a case of them for free about 25 years ago and still have a few left. Autolite pn# 2414 retracted tip

A case? Feel like spreading the love ? :becky:
Well, that was 27 years ago, and if you know anything about Triumphs, I burn through a plug every 25 miles or so, and I only got a plug cleaner recently, at this point I might only have 10 new ones. I did a Google search last night and found these are discontinued and are worth their weight in gold, wish I had just saved them!

I don't think they fit anything else I own, they have a pretty long thread to them, I might have put them in a lawn tractor once, but no, I don't really foul plugs in anything other then the Bonnie. Besides, I got a plug cleaner a few years ago and don't really buy many plugs anymore.
