I plan on picking mine up at the factory as well, but I hate the idea of driving back with no tools. Can a person take a small bag of tools on the plane these days?

you can with checked baggage and safety steps transport guns on common carriers, that being said, tools are an easy do. Keep in mind, one of the design considerations was that an overhead case will fit the truck of the E.

It might be easier to signup for a one year membership to AAA just prior to picking up your Elio at the plant if you have a long road trip home. They could tow you to the nearest PepBoys for warranty covered repairs.

I think aaa gold is 200 miles. And there is a platinum level over that. Check it out and get the one you need. They include other benefits as well that may be useful on a long trip.

I assumed the E vehicles would be built progressively during the testing phase, so if problems were discovered in the early models, the design changes to correct the problems could be incorporated in later E vehicles so the change could be tested.

One thing is for sure, if I pick up mine from the factory, I'm checking out the whole assembly line process. And OMG, I'm going to drill them with sooo many questions, all while wearing my Elio t-shirt!

Let's hope someone has the time to walk you around and answer all those questions while they're trying to stay lean and build up to the building all those cars.
