It's like any large chain company. Each store is a little different and you have some good stores and some bad.
That's good and normal sounding. It's good to expect excellent service regardless of which location you go to but realistic to know there will be discrepancies due to the human factor. The way it was represented was that all Pep Boys were not only staffed morons but careless ones to boot! I've been to some local car shops where my car was only marginally more repaired than when it went in. It doesn't need a "chain repair shop" to have a monkey working on your car!

Perhaps we should contact our local Pep Boys store managers and have them review this thread so he/she has some sense of the public perception about their stores. It might help them overcome this negative view of their service and mechanical skills

If been to two PP in my area, and found the Service clerk to be friendly and courteous, and tried to sell me work that he claimed was following manufacture's requirements- i.e. oil change every 3k. Which is not true Honda says 7k. Hey but that's his job.
However I did look in the bay areas, and since I know not what to look for in skill training, I did notice that unlike the dealerships and Firestone, there were no large tool chests, nor organization of the work stations. If accessories and routine maintenance is their bread and butter then it was as good as Jiffy lube, but they're gonna have to step up a bit to do Elio's warrantee work. I hope for them and us they can get it together.

I don't have a PB within a reasonable driving range so I will use my current trusted mechanic to service my Elio. I would no doubt do that irregardless.

It seems we should put some trust in Paul Elio's decision to make Pep Boys his official servicing partner since we are trusting him to build our Elios. I think he would have researched Pep Boys Customer Service reputation. I have read reviews from a few happy Pep Boys customers mentioning a positive servicing experience...........but more unhappy customer reviews because they tend to speak louder and more frequently. Time will tell on this one.

Call a Pep Boys store manager and they would say, "Elio........what's an Elio?" You explain and their response, "What! Are you kidding me! A three wheeler car, that will never make it!"

Do you like people needlessly bothering you at work?

Hello Mr Admin. Just curious. Maybe I have missed some text but what is the latest regarding the boys @ PepBoys?! Are they getting in tune. I have stopped at several in the Chgo areas and inquired with the shop chiefs regarding plans to support the Elio only to receive the response of "What's an Elio" at most. Is Eliomotors supporting equipment, ie; tri-wheel lift systems, to support the 3-wheeler. Would like to hear more. Standing by..., over :)

I had that same question months ago, but decided it doesn't matter that anyone at Pepboys beyond Larry, Mo and Curly really needs to know until there is an actual Elio and factory certified training is offered for Pepboy's mechanics.
