The thing I like about my coon, assuming she is coon, her personality. OK, I like her fur too. From Viking 'vats' you say? Kind of like that movie Brave, her fur has it's own personality.

My daughter looked up some on the cat type, and mine act as what she found, the females get very dedicated to one person. I probably don't deserve it, but I'm her person.

Main Coons are great cats; and lucky you; you're her love muffin and nothing will change that; well at least until she changes her mind; then it's all over between the two of you.
All cats have personalities, but most people don't realize that; you have to encourage them to show that personality and once you reach that agreement, it will come out that much more.
My Abby still thinks he can talk; I'll have to record it some time and post it; it's funny as hell. You'll see the frustration when he just can't seem to get it out correctly. It's close, but just not human. Remember, to them, you're just another large cat.

If I were to get a new cat, any breed, I'd get a Scottish Shorthair. A Scottish Fold is a Scottish Shorthair with a mutation that causes the ears to fold as they get older. It's pretty much the official cat of the American Library Association. You can't cross a fold to a fold though, since that results in some pretty serious problems, so you cross a fold with a shorthair and half of the litter will have folds. Very sweet cats and very low maintenance, medium sized.

What I was previously use to was Seal-Point Siamese. I call them Americanized Siamese. (That Damn Cat: Movie) They have the long tail but not a narrow head, and a bit larger than regular Siams. But oh god talkative. Our family cat, back in the day, always, always had to have the last word(and first word). You could tell hello, ouch, angst, confusion, desire, hungry, let me out, wazsup, WTF, where ya going, things jezz aint right.... all that and more.

So my dad took on the challenge. He'd say something to her, and see if she would talk back. He kept that up for over 2 hours. She sat down on the couch nearby to finish this talk. At the end of 2 hours, she might wait maybe 1-15 seconds, but then a commentary 'meyoue'. He gave up.

In some ways I wish my coon had not learned that you get things if you talk a lot, over near what you want, and stair right at your person. After 6 she became very vocal. Before that, very quiet. (never want to go back on that)

So lets play, what cat is that?
WhatCatIsThat.jpg

Now imagine it is a very small cat, 100% black-black, black whiskers, dark claws and blue-blue eyes. And super long tail with long fur, but the rest of the cat is short hair. (wait, is that a big squirrel? close, but nope a cat) Very dedicated to one person. Nobody else could get close unless she knew you. Very gentle and tame. Always sleeping under the covers with you. Name? Luther of course!
What cat breed is that? I always wondered.

It might be a Javanese, or part Javanese and something else; the breed just like the Burmese are a result of some early cross breeding "experiments"
They have a picture of a Javanese here 100 Cat Breeds

Well, it looks like she could only have been a mix between something short haired and long haired. She had a very straight fluffy tail and that should have been helpful. But the catalog doesn't exhibit that bend/straight attribute.
Maybe a mix between Bombay and Nebelung. But maybe an Abyssinian with Nebellung because of her fairly big ears and small and refined head.

Starting to sound like a purebred Mutt :becky: (add in a touch of Singapura too)
But those are the best, well rounded breed/attitude/temperament/and loyalty you can have. :thumb:

If it's a dog or a cat, Mutts are always cool; and make the best companion animals you can ever hope to have.

We're down to a couple of barn cats, having had a house dog for years. I had an allergy to cats for many years (after growing up with a dozen or so that came and went over the years). The allergy manifested itself after I got back from overseas and I developed allergies to almost everything that plagued me for 40 years. Without the constant exposure to our local pollen and pets - cats, practically any pollen, and even a few dogs would set me off. Then, a few years ago, as suddenly as those allergies began, they left. Amazing. No more sneezes, watery eyes, etc. whenever one of our almost-feral cats curls up on my lap.

I've been fascinated with exotic cats, particularly the ocelot owned by a couple of college friends. Gorgeous coat, long slender body, staring eyes, and an aloof attitude made it seem even more regal than most cats. Actually, I think it was sizing me up for dinner. No, on second thought I don't think I'd want to share my home with a wild animal . . . .
