In a time long ago, in a place far far away (Seattle) I used to install sunroofs. I did the lift outs, the vinyl sliders, power moon roofs, T-Tops and a few others, so I do know a thing or two about them. I've been watching the threads of how some want a sunroof, some don't and those that just don't know.
So I did some pondering on this myself and went back to basics. When you cut the hole for a sunroof, at first is looks huge from inside the car; but once all is said and done you lose a lot of that opening. The sunroof always has to have a frame around it for either support, or drain tracks, or mechanism tracks so you lose 2 to 4 inches of overall width. Looking at the measurements they have in the photo section of the Elio, it's only 14" of workable space side to side. So you'll end up with an opening 10" to maybe 12" wide. Because of the curve in the roof line front to rear, you'll have about the same amount of workable space. So you can end up with a 10"X10" glass filled hole, no thanks.
I'm going to put myself on the No Sunroof in my Elio because I don't want a porthole in the roof; it would do more to ruin the feel inside than it would enhance it.
If you want to see what it feels like; go sit in your own car and hold a piece of paper (8.5x11) over your head
