Aren't they suppose to build the motors at the plant from scratch? They are suppose to have some company teach them how, then slowly kick them out and do it there self. (Paul said so in a speech)

Can't see how they are going to build that number of engines at the speed they can assemble the bodies that can be just stuck together.

My understanding is the foundry work will be done elsewhere. The raw moldings will be "Flame sprayed" and milled at Shreveport.
Be kind of tough creating a foundry where none had existed before. Just like the prototype was cast at Granger & Worrall and then brought to the US for milling and Flame Spray. Don't know if Granger & Worrall will continue to make all the castings or if it will be done in the US.

William,
Was the prototype engine ever actually flame sprayed or was it simply sleeved?
Got any sources on that?

I am pretty sure it was flame sprayed. They wanted to test the durability first thing. And we never have heard one word about how the first engine fared after the first week or so of testing.

Wish I could answer that question. I remember reading about the flame spraying in one of the threads. ( The Elio Engine ) There was even a comment from someone who works in a Jersey railroad yard that used that technique. But to give you a specific reference other than having seen it discussed in the forum for well over a year, I'm sorry.

I would think Comau would assemble a few vehicles on the assembly line to test it out.

If this is the case, would these constitute some of the later P prototype units?
