I believe you, just being snarky. I did a 130 on my Bonnie once, never again..Been there. Done 85mph on level ground a few times.
Down hill, in a hurricane?I did 88mph in my Geo Metro once...I even had the paperwork to prove it ( thank god I was still single at the time.)
Some of what you say is true some speculative. Also, there are no mean spirited members! My issue is with your speculation regarding engineering issues with the promised P5 to be unveiled around Thanksgiving. I anticipate a final Elio specification freeze P5 Prototype build followed by E builds, testing, and tweaking as needed to achieve the Production ready Elio. If the P5 is anything less or delayed I would be extremely disappointed and will move on. However, I will maintain my reservation deposit as a small investment/insurance policy because there is still promise it may happen. Good luck with your refund process. It's sad this public forum has so many "mean spirited" name calling members... certainly not great PR for Elio supporters ...
Truth is... other than a couple of engines... and three styling prototypes ... after 7 years... there is no proof that Elio is a viable concept...
Let's examine the facts...
Paul has been soliciting reservation's since the spring of 2013...and has made countless pubic promises with regards to the Elio Vehicle development progress & time-frame projections... most have been just fluff...
But the facts currently are...
There's only several styling prototypes in existence... but no specification ready prototypes that are remotely similar to a real world consumer Elio Vehicle...
Elio's claims regarding fuel mileage... safety parameters ... price point... are all unverified promises... it's important to note that Paul & his staff have made dozens of unrealized promises over the years...
They have a vacant plant in Louisiana... Paul promised this facility was going to be operational 2 years ago ... of course that was 5 production delays ago...
Elio Motors is currently cashless... has a mountain of debt... and can not currently meet it's financial obligations... but of course Paul still collect a 250K salary from the deposit holder's...
Soon...there's a P5 promised... but will it be equipped with airbags... traction control... ABS brakes... and all the other numerous production features the Paul has promised... I fully expect the P5 build is currently having engineering issues... and will be another disappointment for Elio Motors supporters...
And now...there's a current "Crowd funding" initiative ... Elio has already squandered 50 plus million... possibly the crowd funding is just more unproductive capitol for Paul to waste...
IMO... The DOE ATVM loan staff must be chuckling every time they review newly submitted Elio documentation... of course the Reg A filing docs show Elio is paying "Black Swan LLC" a fee of 1.4 million to process the ATVM paperwork... LOL
Is Elio Motors a "Scam"... probably not... it's just a poorly run startup venture that will more than likely waste more than a 100 million on a trying to bring a an ill conceived consumer product to market...
250,000 projected annual production units... 84 MPG... 5 Star automotive based safety certification... $6,800 base price... promises ... promises... promises...
FYI...I'm working to receive a refund on my $1,000 deposit... and fully expect a refund will be made...
Already had that one figured out. It's nice having somebody looking out for your best interest........wait a minute where the heck were they to stop him from writing the check.

This will my last posting...
In my opinion...the Elio story has hit several major roadblocks...and will never enter production...
Too many broken promises...
I hope Mr Elio has the ethics & guts to make refunds to all deposit holders that wish to make that request...
Moderator's please remove my account...
Thanks!

What Mr. Snarky said!
I did invite James to join in if he's inclined.
Strangely enought, only TexasElio has shown up supporting James' views.
Quote: "Seriously James, if you're for real, chime in.
Tis better to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous forum members... and all that.
Lest I forget again... "
While I'm still here burning daylight, the site "Topspeed" seems to have gotten an '08 up to 85mph too.

Yeah, I know BB. You gotta love those British bikes.
I built a 650 Norton about 4 decades ago.
If you feel like it, give us the specs on your Beetle.
