Have I given up? Pretty much. It was a grand dream that "bit" the dust. I just got a hybrid Corrolla and it's pretty much packing the economy I wanted. The bottom dropping out doesn't offer hope that economy will be much of a factor in the near future either.

The success of this project always relied on gas being $4.00+ per gallon combined with with the general unavailability of good and affordable electric vehicles. The ship has sailed on both of those issues. Gas is low and even if it does go back up to that range any time soon, there's going to be a much better choice of electric vehicles to choose from. Short of reengineering this into an electric vehicle with a reasonable range, it's not ever going to happen. Even then, it would be a niche of a niche vehicle and therefore probably not all that affordable.

You're correct. I don't see gas getting close to a national average of $4 anytime soon. many companies right now are learning that their travel budgets do not need to be as big as they were in the past since most of what big corporation are doing right now is from people doing it at home. With travel down. people thinking twice about taking long trips, the amount of oil consumed will be low for a while. Then people will hold onto their old car and repair it as opposed to going out and buying a new one.
You bring up a good point about EV's. Manufacturers have committed to them so, there will be more and more to choose from that will come from traditional companies. The "greenies" will look for an EV over an ICE powered vehicle. For Elio to be acceptable in that area, they will need to either wait for better battery technology or go with a bigger footprint. At the end of the day, we are limited with the footprint.

Have I given up? Absolutely, I have. When they started talking about "financing" with crypto currency, I figured that was the bitter end right there. Now, I don't even get emails any more and I'm an all in reservation holder.

Elio Tandem Ventilators (ETVs) would still be in the R&D prototyping and fundraising stages. He’s more likely applying for a Federal PPP loan to insure payroll protection for his furloughed Board of Directors.

Out of the blue I got an email today from this forum mentioning I haven't been here for a while which is true. I have not been receiving the weekly emails from Elio, but my brother has, so he forwards them to me from time to time. He and I are both ALL IN , me for two of them! My brother is now 70 and I just turned 64 so our hopes are slipping away. So what's new?

It is interesting that you have stopped receiving emails from Elio Motors but your brother still gets them. Did you move or more importantly did you change your email address and are sure they aren’t going to spam? The reason I ask is that one excuse Paul and Hari use to defer or lose refund info on the reservationists is that they (the reservationists) are not updating info: Paul and Hari apparently claim it’s ‘out of their control’ and their database (and ostensibly backup) are sound.
With EM’s sanitizing of FaceBook there are fewer and fewer ways to ‘hold their feet to the fire’ to get honest and reliable information. It doesn’t help that we are all just growing older, either.
