No doubt the 357 packs a punch. I enjoy shooting my Ruger SP101, but even with that, I can only shoot ~50 rounds of 357. I can't imagine shooting the LCR in 357.
in the case where you need a concealed weapon, it doesn't matter how much it kicks, or how noisy it is without ear plugs, you are still going to pull the trigger. If you have a nice comfortable full frame pistol, you will not have it when you need it. The most important thing is to have one with you when you need it. I have a friend that carries a 45 double barrel derringer. It is hell to shoot, but he carries it. I have another friend that carries a 22 Mag revolver. They both have them with them all the time. The guy with the 22 mag revolver has 6 shots and the 22 mag is pretty serious, and it is really noisy with a 7/8 inch barrel. I wouldn't want it in Afghanistan, but I would like it in LA. The 45 derringer has 2 before you reload, but will leave a mark if you hit someone with it.

The debate will rage on and on with every opinion imaginable. The first thing though is you have to have it with you to do you any good. Whatever you carry will work infinity better than the one you left in the safe.

I've been researching a Caldwell Lead Sled DFT since early December of last year .... they have recently come out with with a new model they have named the Caldwell Lead Sled DFT 2 ===> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01NCLR2L0/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 <=== after much thought I decided to "pull the trigger" so to speak and order one ... I'm convinced that using it can help take out some of the human wobble when trying to shoot groups .... once I figure out just how small of a group (at various ranges) the rifle is capable of shooting, it then becomes my goal see just how close I can come to making it do so

initially I envision its major uses to be :

1. helping sight in scopes on 10 rifles

2. patterning various types of shotgun shells in 4 different shotguns, each with up to 5 different choke tubes

3. development of both hunting and practice loads in 7 different calibers with various grain bullets in each

in the last 50 years there is no telling how many scopes I have sighted in .... do I have to have a Lead Sled to sight in a scope, absolutely not .... that being said, the video shown in this link ===>
<=== another, shorter, video showing how using a Lead Sled allows one person to easily sight in a rifle (I love the British accents) ===>
<=== together they provide a pretty good look at why I'm really looking forward to using a Lead Sled that is supposed to arrive Friday

"So now we're ready to take the first shot. But always remember to remove the bore sighter first." LOL.
I've got a Primos Group Therapy Rest that I've yet to use. I'll let you know.

The thing is, if you know it is going to hurt, or it really hurts on the first shot and the attacker is coming, you might not pull the trigger. That's a huge problem for you in protecting yourself.

I'd make links, but I'm at work and don't search for firearm stuff here, but you can Google yourself on people who didn't pull the trigger, or were armed and never deployed their self defense tool.

I carry a 45acp myself, but with how good 9mm ammo is now, there is not much reason to carry at least that. Heck, even 380 ammo with Lehigh Defense Xtreme Penetrator ammo is pretty nice.

the more we use and learn about modern day Henry rifles, the more impressed we become .... saying right up front, the fellow in this video is way out of my league .... to me it speaks volumes about a stock Henry is capable of in the hands of someone who really knows how to shoot

50 some odd rounds of 357 today through the LCR.
Consistent pings on an 8" plate at 100'. Fires better with 357 than 38's for some reason.
I'm so happy with this pistol. Perfect pocket carry.

Then there's the KSG with 00 Magnums.
(*shivers*)
Gave up after 2 rounds. Nice mark on my shoulder to show for it.
I can fire 2 3/4" buck all day but that Magnum stuff is only for that "oh crap" moment.
Not sure I could get through all 15 even with adrenaline pumping.
Man.... what a kick!

I'm gonna feel this in the morning.

I just fired one of those! (not mine)
It's such a smooth rifle!
Iron sights will get you center mass at 100m easy.
The kick is really manageable. I was really impressed!

Next is the 45-70.

we have a Henry 357, 44, and 45-70 .... all have very smooth actions .... all are very accurate .... the 357Mag & 44Mag are really fun to shoot with any power loads .... shooting Cowboy Action loads ===> http://www.cabelas.com/product/HSM-...egoryId=734095080&CQ_search=hsm+cowboy+action <=== in a 45-70 fall into that same category .... once you get to full power game loads on par with ===> http://www.cabelas.com/product/HSM-...e.cmd?categoryId=734095080&CQ_search=hsm+bear <=== I strongly wouldn't recommend firing them in a rifle that doesn't have a good recoil pad .... both rounds deliver devastating power down range

over time I've twisted/broken several small screws by over tightening them and the smaller they are, the harder they seem to be to remove .... a while back I saw a friend's a Wheeler Torque Wrench .... it has an adjustment range from 10 inch/pounds to 65 inch/pounds .... must say I was and still am impressed .... have watched several YouTube video reviews that rate them highly .... I'm strongly considering ordering one, I believe it would be an often used tool
