Ive got a limbsaver gel pad on my 870 express 3 1/2".

Well worth the money and time spent installing. It's diy if you have a belt sander - need to shape it to your stock.

thanks for the report .... I've heard of these recoil pads but have never knowingly seen, much less used one

Thanks! I'll look into one of those. I saw a slip on version that might do the trick. I've got the composite stock so I'm not sure how well it would take to being ground on.

You grind the pad to size off the stock. You'll have to measure your stock to get the right size when ordering, too big of a blank and you will grind into the gel. Here's a link to what I've got. https://www.limbsaver.com/product/grind-to-fit-recoil-pad/

Here's their install video.

NSTG8R mentioned "abrasiveness" - the limbsaver is pretty soft rubber compared to a solid pad. I think it helps hold it in place better under recoil rather than move around like a harder/slipperier one might. Back when I used to shoot it all the time, we would shoot up to 250 rounds a day, sometimes 500 on a weekend - 2 or 3 trap and skeet leagues and any 50 or 100 bird shoots in driving distance. It was the best upgrade I did to that gun.

I shoot a Browning XT now, at almost 9 lbs, the factory pad has been good enough for me. I also don't have the time to shoot nearly as much as I used to.

Shoot 5 rounds and tell me how much you'll continue shooting it. If you aren't going to shoot it, it is highly unlikely you'll even carry it.

Presently using it as a concealed carry.
Can be consistent to 50-100'
357 DOES pack a whallop (which is kind of the point)
Use short barrel specific ammo to limit muzzle flash. Hornady Crit Defense 135gr
I love this LCR!

No doubt the 357 packs a punch. I enjoy shooting my Ruger SP101, but even with that, I can only shoot ~50 rounds of 357. I can't imagine shooting the LCR in 357.
