you are fortunate to have such a hunting area .... for walking in at night (with a flashlight) having black bear in the area I hunt wouldn't concern me ..... with a black bear, if they see you first, all you will she is bushes shaking as they run away ..... exceptions would be getting between a mommy and her cub of if the bear is injured .... a boar hog would be much more likely to see you first and charge .... historically, I carry whatever I'm hunting with loaded, safety on, while walking to my stand .... that includes my crossbow
