In the engine test

Has anyone noticed haw clean and spotless that room is? My kitchen doesn't even look that good.
Think how dirty that clean room would look if they had an engine that threw a rod and sprayed oil. (Of course, in my garage it would never be noticed.)

Consider all the sensors they have and computer monitoring of everything going on in that engine. They did not have these 30 years ago and may be part of the reason engines last 300,000 miles today.

It sounds like there is a very slight and very brief flutter in the exhaust sound around 00:24. In no way is this a problem. Just curious.

This video shows the taps in the exhaust manifold being used and why they were there.

Compared with the still photos, I cannot find the oil dip stick not the tube it sits in. Perhaps it has been moved.

The second computer screen show rpm going up, being held, then decreasing. Judging from the aggressive sound, I suspect if this engine has the 2 step intake valve profiles, the one for high power is active. It should be active considering the engine acceleration.

In the video insert in the upper left corner, if you look through the window, you can see someone raising their hand to make an adjustment at around 00:04.

I didn't see Commander Kody in the video.

clean indeed .... also agree with the condition of my garage .... I did notice and was surprised by all of the sensor wires .... I was wondering about the dual valves system, sure hope the engine being tested pretty well reflects the one that will be installed .... I don't have the sensitive ear that you do but she sounds good to me .... it has been suggested that she was running around 2500 rpm, sounded much faster than that to me

In the engine cell phone video many months ago, Commander Kody was asked how the elio engine would sound with straight pipes and he said "goofy".

I beg to differ. He works at IAV and is accustomed to working with car and truck engines which have 4,6, 8, or other cylinders. My world revolves around motorcycles and we have a lot of 2 cylinder bikes that sound just fantastic. This video sounds every bit as fantastic. The "motorcycle" world is about to have a new and distinctive member.

just making some guesses here...from looking at the screen towards the end, it appears that they did three "pulls" and the video segment was only for the final (third pull). Now, we (i) assume that, since we have been told the HP ''target" was in the 50-60 range, and "rumors" said the hp was actually higher than the target...I will venture a guess that the numbers to the right of the graph are in 20 hp increments, and the "peak" appears to be between 60 and 80 hp...right around 70hp.
The "sound" (drone) kind of reminds me of a small single engine aircraft. I can envision pulling up alongside another vehicle on the interstate, and watching the occupants, looking skyward, straining their necks to see where the airplane is at :D lol. I assume (hope) it will have a little quieter muffler. :) Very cool to finally see it running!:cool::cool:

I have a 900cc inline triple (sound familiar?) bike, and it sounds great. My 8 YO son, after hearing the engine run through our 500W with powered subwoofer surround sound audio system said it sounded like an airplane. He had a big grin on his face too. Although I'm not worried about exhaust note with this vehicle, I don't think we will have anything to worry about if this is a personal conceren.;)

3 cyl engines sounds off with loud exhaust on them IMO. Any Good motorcycle tuners DYNO room is clean. They spend a lot of cash on the equipment and it is their money maker.
From the video it appears that that equipment is much more than just a DYNO. It seems to be collecting a lot of information about what the engine is doing.
