I may be missing something, since I am guilty of not having ready all 92 pages thus far, but those spinning discs appear to be digital, right? If that is correct, perhaps EM could install a switch that would change the display to just the whole MPH and RPM numbers (e.g. 67 or 2250 respectively). There would still be plenty of reasons to not embrace the Elgin, but it would certainly dispense of a healthy percentage of my reasons. Is this adjustment even possible?

The numbers in the prototype are not digital. It's an actual spinning disc. This is planned to be the case in the final design as well. Information like the odometer, engine temp, speed (mph), etc.. are planned to be shown on the the lower-center red LCD screen in between the tachometer and speedometer.

Really, five pages alone, today, on this thread about gauge clusters. Do any of you people have a real job, or is this just what you do all day? I wish I could remember how cars I've owned/driven, that didn't have operating gauges, gas gauge is the only mandatory one and with the E-car, not so much. Again if the instrument cluster is good enough for Paul's dream car, it's good enough for me, I just want it ASOP
Speaking for myself, no real job nor want one but thank you for your interest! Most people want the sour apple green over the fence rather than what is on their side. BTW how far did you walk through the snow to get to school?

I've had the check engine light pop on twice on cars I've owned........both times faulty signals. What can happen? Check the engine oil, service the engine at regular intervals, and keep it under 100 mph..............no CEL required.
What can go wrong...

I love that phrase, the most over used by the winners of the Darwin Awards and former Titanic engineers.

Thank you. I watched the video again more carefully and noticed the last second the backlight turned off. So much for that idea.

I just can't help feeling that this design is such a horrible misuse of space with a egregious loss of function. With Elio's low margin base business model, I'd expect a MUCH better use of their dashboard and console space to allow for the addition of higher margin options. This one part of Elio seems so inconsistent from everything else about them. I really hope they are at least entertaining the idea of a [labor cost only] replacement option with needles.

Maybe to push buyers into taking the Infiniteskyz option?

understandable thought but the Elgin and the Skyz are mutually exclusively .... as of now, every Elio will come off the line with an Elgin dash .... EM will not offer an approved option to be added by their folks .... the Skyz will be added at whatever location is adding the approved options (example leather, power seats) .... in short, you get an Elgin dash period .... adding the Skyz components has no impact on it

So I'm going to guess that this dash that PE must have is not an American made part seeing how the one they are showing is metric. Can't they find an American manufacturer to make a good looking functional dash.
