I can't help but be a bit curious at how much commission Start Engine stands to pull in out of the money collected

$50 per investor who actually purchases stock. It's a flat fee, not dependent on the amount purchased.
Obviously, it's to Elio's interest to have large dollar value per investor, which is kind of counter to the whole idea of crowd-funding (a little from a lot of folks). If 1,000 investors coughed up 25,000 apiece, the fee to Startengine.com would be $50,000. But if it takes 7,000 investors to come up with the money, the fees would be $350,000. So the more the merrier from Startengine's point of view, while from Elio's point of view, a few big fish are better.
