I have no doubt that they can produce a few of these and it seems like a good value for the money, if it fits your use case (which it nearly does for me. I'd like to see just a bit better top speed at something like 95+ mph and verify the practical range with AC on). I would definitely be interested if the Elio wasn't so much cheaper to own.

Apparently it's "capable" of 136mph but electronically "governed" to 85 :(
(I'm thinking it's "tweakable" :D)

Kroll also stated that the Solo production model track tested at 0-60 in 8 seconds, but is capable of 0-60 in 1.8 seconds.......insane.

They took it up to 91.14mph on the track.
They also said that they never exceeded 70% of it's capabilities.

It's funny. It seems like they've successfully pre-engineered the solo right down to the finest detail.
As apposed to Elio Motors' apparent "evolving learning curve" flux system of engineering and development.

Yes Seth, they say they'll start slow, but they say they'll start in this quarter.
That's a remarkable price for something that's basically going to be hand built.
I think it's because they've kept the cost of even "hand" building the vehicle down...
And these first (was 120) 1000 Alphas may be their equivalent of the 100 fleet Elios.

In the back of my mind, I'm thinking, if nothing else... collector's item!

They're talking about making arrangements with Asian manufacturers...
To produce the numbers needed for the ordered 22K fleet units...
And the 60K fleet units on pending order and beyond.

It's true that they aren't conforming to Elio's four "must haves", but they seem to be 'Git-n-r-done'.

As far as letting all those horses loose...
I'm not sure I'd want to exceed the 85mph and the 8 seconds.
The track video looked like the Solo's got some body roll in hard turns.
But I'm guessing that they'll probably be able to adjust the suspension a bit.

If you're enamored with the SOLO, I'd advise that you get one on order and create the SOLOOWNERS web site.
I am, I have, there's no innuendo and there's no true dissing.
There is only a sense of humor, respect and comparison.
Everything in it's place and time. ;)

Thanks for the advice about Soloowners.com.
Good idea, but the domain is already taken.
I don't do anything but .coms

I'm guilty of being enamoured by the idea of all enclosed three wheelers to include Elio, SRK, and the Solo. No dissing any of these concepts as folks are working hard to get them to market. Paul Elio's friendly quote at the New York Auto Show while visiting the Arcimoto SRK space, "Go three wheels!"

Interesting to watch all the new vehicle startups making progress and reveals........at least for me. Frankly, the Elio is the most practical/functional/affordable of the three, but I'm old, don't have many driving years left in me, and will buy the first production enclosed three wheeler that makes it to production. They all meet different individual needs, buy what you like, like what you drive.

One additional thought.
This particular thread is not required reading.
A simple solution for those who may be offended...
Would be to simply avoid the thread.

Paul says, "Doc, it hurts when I do this."
Doc says, "Sooo... Don't do that." ;)

I don't think anything about the Meccanica diss's the Elio. It's failure, should that happen, is possibly the only thing. Although even there it's an apples and oranges discussion. I'm hoping they do well. Yes, a few people may be pulled from one to the other. But it's success will probably bring 10times as many people into the interest around three wheel cars.

I'm hoping it puts the EV idea dead center into the Elio future planning. But of course you know my opinion about this subject. My Atlantric was designed with the space for massive battery packs as well as ICE drive options. The world is just going to have to have space for both for at least 40years.
