Not yet. I did when they were HOV lanes but after a few close calls I parked it. Considering getting it back on the road for next season and using it on the HOT lanes when weather permits. Will use the new exit on the HOT lane south of my normal and then north on route 1 to home.
Now I'm curious if you feel the SRK,with it's safety feartures, might actually be a little safer in that driving environment than your traditional MC?

A bit safer as I won't be the exoskeleton for it. Add the protection from the weather....and it's a bit closer to doable than the cycle.

We don't have this here; so what is the difference between HOV and HOT lanes?

HOT lanes are High Occupancy Toll lanes while HOV lanes are High Occupancy Vehicle lanes.
You can pay to ride the HOT lanes like a toll road or you can meet the High Occupancy requirement and ride for free. Sadly the SLUG lines are empty when I roll out.

I'm sceptical about just how much protection those two thin tubes are going to give you.
If you notice, it looks like they're secured to the running boards with two bolts on each tube.
I would guess you could say goodbye to your ankles and feet in a moderate side impact.

The current frame will be beefed up according to Arcimoto engineers along with other changes as they start building the fleet of 50 test pilot SRKs. Crash testing was mentioned. Safety is an issue with both the SRK and the Elio as narrow three wheelers. Testing will provide safety data on both vehicles to avoid having to guess. Frankly, I won't feel particularly safe in either, regardless of the crash test results.

I'd be willing to bet that the Elio will be safer, but you're right. Neither will be all that safe in a collision with another vehicle. Just the fact that they weigh less than half of the average vehicle on the road means both lose fairly badly when hit directly. The better bet is to avoid an accident in the first place. Failing that, try to get a glancing blow or crash into the softest thing around. Anyway, either will be far better than a standard motorcycle.

The SRK EV may be quick and manueverable to avoid the minor or KMAGB accident in the first place. I do look forward to the actual safety ratings on both production vehicles and better yet the test rides.
