Ya know.. if the Arcimoto SRK had some way to attach a snow plow, or even better a snow blower w/ a pony engine, it might just be worth owning up here in the great white north. I really like the look of it, and from all appearances it would be a riot to drive.. but, unless I could get 4 season use out of it, it would just be an expensive toy.

The Elio is far more practical, besides being more economical.. at least initial purchase wise. And, 4 season ready, even without a snow plow.

Too much guessing.

Both the Elio and the SRK will have limited value in the snow belts during heavy snow accumulation. They are both & vehicles, so I will choose to drive the AWD primary vehicle until the roads are clear. Both vehicle concepts are designed to serve primarily as commuters by the vast majority of owners. Choose the concept that best meets your driving needs and budgets or BOTH the motorcycle EV and the autocycle just for the driving fun and value of ownership.

Ignoring the motorcycle vs. autocycle class distinction, I disagree that there's a lot of overlap in the markets for these vehicles. I think the Elio is more of a suburban commuting vehicle, while the Arcimoto design is more focused on urban environments. One will be used to cruise along the highways from a house with a driveway to the company parking lot somewhere near the city center, while the other will be more adept at navigating the tight streets and limited parking of the city center itself. Completely different demographics.

That and one can do intercity and interstate travel while the other clearly is not intended for that mode of travel (not including cities that are close together or being near a state border).

The SRK and the Elio are totally different vehicle platforms and drive trains appealing to different mentalities and individual needs in a wide range of demographics. The only similarity is that they are 3 wheeler, 2 seater commuter vehicles, both under development since about '08. Arcimoto is developing their concept with private funding and a single $100 refundable reservation level for a place in line.

Paul Elio may already have an SRK everyday electric reservation with plans to use it to get around his 1.5 million square foot manufacturing plant. A fleet of SRK Deliverators would be ideal for running off the shelf parts and flexible enough for future employee commutes..........and speed golf on the weekends. A multipurpose Recreational/Delivery/Commuter EV.

The criss-cross seatbelt arrangement is kind of weird. Not much hope of getting any airbags on the SRK. Makes you wonder how Paul is going to add all that and more for so much less.

The weird crisscross 5 point seatbelt harness design may keep the rider firmly attached to the seat similar to NASCAR seatbelt harnesses which have no airbag protection. It will be interesting to see the SRK's computer simulated crash test results. The engineering of the SRK may prove to be as safe as the Elio pending crash test results of both vehicles.
Safety is my primary concern driving either of these motorcycle classified three wheelers. One shouldn't underestimate the design and engineering going into the SRK.
