I have been a member of the Elio Motors Owners Association group on Facebook for about as long as I have been a member here. That group is stands out as it is the only one I know of which is only open to those who have reservations as well as a few others who were invited. The behavior on that page is much worse than anything we get on here. I see two big reasons for this, one is a very small group of reservation holders that have become disgruntled to the point that all they want to do is make a nuisance of themselves and disrupt the group instead of actually discussing various issues. The second reason is too many people who actually believe they are entitled to know every detail just because they have made a $1000 or $100 reservation. Over the last few months it got so bad that pretty much all the Elio employees who were on there, and would participate at times, have now left the group. :(

I wold not want to have to deal with approving people anyhow but from what I have seen closing the group would not make things any better, in term of people causing trouble, while also eliminating the interesting questions and viewpoints of people who, for various reasons, do not have reservations.

I couldn't agree more. I think that when people become so mentally invested in an idea and events delay the actualization of that idea people resort to negativity to lower their expectation as a coping mechanism. I have become overly negative about things that I have no control over many times (still am on a lot of topics) but the truth is my constant criticism just hurts my cause. If I really want my idea to become reality, I should do everything I can to build it up, not to tear it down. We all have our favorite TV shows where we are conditioned to seeing a problem presented and in 30 or 60 minutes a happy resolution reached. Elio's efforts to get off the ground is not going to be resolved in 30 to 60 minutes. You have to see the whole picture. I did my small part by investing in the Elio project. Risk was accepted. Have played the lottery many times, but don't go off the deep end everytime I don't win. Actually to some degree those here and on the Elio Facebook page who constantly spew their venom just helps me realize how irritating that kind of behavior can be.and makes me more determined to keep my negativity in check. (This is not sunshine pumping, it is seeing the whole picture). If I never drive my Elio I will be happy to know that I did not contribute to its demise. JMHO.

A lot of this goes back to civility and is a micro-reflection on our society. I just don't understand how someone on a forum can badmouth someone else. They know nothing about that person. Politeness has just gone out the window in our anonymous environment. Most of the rude comments said on here would never be said face-to-face, so it shouldn't be said here.

I invested money that I could afford to lose. Don't want to lose, but could afford to lose. Sounds like a few made this investment without the understanding that they could lose their money.

My investment in this company was based on a long term basis. Any start up has these bumps in the road.

I'm still in 100%.

I didn't do as much research as I should have before I spent my money. And I'm thankful for that. If I knew then what I know now, I probably would not have risked the money. But because I did, I'm in for the long haul and will continue to enjoy the ride. Frankly, what choice do we have?

CompTrex,

To me the journey has been rewarding. I've made some friends I would never have without the Elio. I also lost a friend along the way.

Maybe I'm old but I am appreciating the many bumps and turns along the way of my life's journey.

Some people live their life looking at the glass being only half filled. I'm grateful for the half filled. My other option is no glass.

Agreed, which is why I'm kind of glad I didn't do all my homework in the beginning.

So very well said!
And I totally agree with..."but the truth is my constant criticism just hurts my cause. If I really want my idea to become reality, I should do everything I can to build it up, not to tear it down."

I nominate this for Post of the day

There is an interesting thing that was applied to the Elio forums that would be nice here. Maybe more extreme than we want, but still interesting.
It appears there is a way to confirm people actually have a reservation. Then we could limit members to only true Elio owners.
Sounds Extreme but that would rip out the true trolls with agendas.
The others who are pro and con are just fine with me, giving true questions and 'wait a sec' moments.
We just don't have a use for the 'Troll Agendas'
Using the ignore button effectvely does the same. I use it to ignore those that only have negative posts and offer no solutions or options
