18 gal so far this year.

I must say it does have it's benefits.

So........it doesn't sound like it was a totally selfish gift! Sounds like fun and satisfying to enjoy a glass of wine you actually made!

I'm having a glass of store bought wine right now and thinking about my Muscadine vine out back. My searching tells me that I would have to wait 3 years before drinking. Don't know if I could hold out that long.

Welcome DavtdE! Hold out.........it could be worth the wait........at least until taking delivery on your new Elio.......and then a christening with your Muscadine ready or not.

Ford, or insert name of carmaker here, isn't going to buy Elio just to kill it. They have stockholders to answer to, and that amounts to throwing money away.

EM could be a target for an automaker, but likely it would either suceed as another product in their line, or get "fixed" into something no one wants.

Let's all just hope Paul keeps control of this. He has the vision and is focused on what it will be. If it gets controlled by a corporation, it's designed by committee and we all know what that means.

200 million for a large automaker is not even a subject for the board to take up. pocket change. Less that what a few Exc's are paid in bonuses.
You do not need to own all of the stock not even 20% in many cases to control a company. Company I work for was taken over with 13% being purchased by an investment group.
It is not uncommon for investment groups to take a controlling interest and sell off assets turn a fast buck and walk away.
Elio should stay private if they want to make it

I gave the last wife a Very Special and EXPENSIVE gift near Christmas that year.
When I got the 'Final Divorce' papers, it was just before Christmas. A quote I had heard came to mind,
'I Free, I'm Free, Praise God I'm Free At Last'.(mlk)
The Very Best Christmas present I Ever received.
Now I have Two Girls, a HD and a GW. They don't bitch/whine nor make Demands. All they ask for is up-keep/gas and a little (24K) Chrome, not 14K Gold, now and then.
It all turned out OK, in the end!!!

Never buy your wife a purse ,wallet of fire arm you will get it wrong. Take her with you let her pick it out. Other gifts should never be things they need like frying pans ect. Some of the needed stuff is ok the first few years when you are broke but latter on that stuff is out.
You learn a thing or two after 38 years.

We stopped buying presents years ago! Now we plan for large expenditures, such as new kitchen, bathroom, appliances, bamboo flooring, Elio, and back yard landscaping,which is going on now! We thought it was silly to buy things for each other we didn't need or want! Expenditures over a certain amount are discussed before the purchase is made. Do we need it, want it, or just gotta have it! Guess where the Elio fell?
