Keep up the great work!
As of this morning, I have my little 3D model sitting on my desk. Had a few people stop by and ask about it. One actually had money on a Sparrow way back when. Never heard of the Elio. Now he has.
I just wish I knew how to clean up the model. It looks pretty bad from all my dremmel and knife hacking to remove the scaffolding.

Acetone.

You can also putty, sand, and/or paint it and you may actually do all the above at times. :)

Throw soldering iron on the list of tools to clean up the model. I've got one with different tips, some for actual soldering, others for who-knows-what. If you still have some of the filiment left, or access to more, you can "lead in" the low spots and sand with progressively fine grit...she'll be lookin' purty in no time. :)

I've done enough to get the 3d print version into sketchup, so I uploaded both a Year1 with interior and one with out for the 3d print. It could use a little more clean up, but it's good enough for people to get a better look at what we currently think the Y1 will look like.

I just noticed on ebay Cubify 3D printers, 'as-is' for $199. I would guess these are early version 2's. G1 is on gen3 I believe. I have no idea if this is a good risk or not. Any ideas?

That is a heck of a deal, but all the "MAY NOT WORK, WE DIDN'T TEST THESE, BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK" language at the bottom of the page would kind of scare me off. Your call on that one Ari.

I've been looking into the RepRap Ormerod 2. Doesn't look like it takes up too much desk space, and the build size is 200mmx200mmx200mm, or around 8" in all directions.

Didn't see the price on the website I just posted, but I believe it runs around $750 - $800. Not cheap for sure, but a bargain compared to some of the other 3D printers I've looked at.

...And by the way, fantastic looking model!!:)

I like that one! It does seem pretty dang good for the money! The biggest issue is if it's software-ready, and that des seem to be true in their write ups.
I'd be inclined to go that way rather than risk wasting time and money.
