Bengals still undefeated at 7-0! That's fantastic!

Denver looked great tonight. Green Bay looked like crap. If the Broncs and Pats can stay undefeated until they play, they'll go into it 10-0 vs 10-0. Hopefully the Broncs, Pats, and Bengals all remain strong. It'll make for a hell of a playoff on the AFC side.

I'm hoping the Panthers also remain undefeated for as long as possible. I think the Panthers and Cards are the two teams to watch out for in the NFC. Green Bay too, of course.

for a QB who can no longer throw the long ball or move around in the pocket, Manning had a good night .... I don't know how much longer he can play but he's still one of the top QB's in the league

Sunday's games, week 8:

GB 10, Den 29 - In a big game, Denver's defense has everyone's attention now. Wow! Rodgers passed for 77 yds and was sacked 3 times for 27 yds. A net of 50 yds passing. It looked to me like Denver's plan was to keep him in the pocket and don't let him out, and then occasionally bring pressure up the middle. Denver's LBs and DBs must've been covering very well too. Whatever they did, Rodgers did not feel comfortable out there. Who would've guessed that? Very amazing performance by the Denver D. Manning threw for a ton of yds but 0 TD and 1 INT. It was 17-10 in the 3rd qtr, but Packers could not score again. Denver ran for 160 yds, GB for 90. Total yds count was 500 to 140. I think GB is thin in their defense, and when Matthews got hurt, Denver quickly exposed it. Denver was 6-12 on 3rd down. Den is 7-0, GB falls to 6-1.

Det 10, KC 45 - KC pummeled the Lions in bloody old England, as Det has problems protecting the QB AND have a defense that isn't good AND a QB that holds on to the ball too long sometimes AND a QB that throws inaccurately at times. Their defense decided not to put a spy on Alex Smith, and he ran like crazy, totaling 78 yds and 1 TD. Det did sack Smith 3 times, but KC sacked Stafford 6 times. KC was excellent on 3rd down, and Det had 5 more penalties. KC is 3-5.

TB 23, Atl 20 - The Bucs go into Atlanta and give the Falcons their 2nd straight loss. Atl made a nice comeback to send it to OT. The Bucs got a FG on their 1st possession in OT, and Atl had a chance to tie it or win it. But they fell short. Ryan's numbers look great and he was only sacked once, but I heard he just didn't play that well. Winston was efficient for TB, 177 yds 1 TD and no INT. Both teams were good on 3rd down. Atl had 11 penalties to TB's 8. The killer was turnovers: Atl lost 4-0 there. Ouch. Atl is 6-2.

AZ 34, Cle 20 - Clev looked great in the 1st half and led 20-10. AZ won the 2nd half 24-0. Can you say adjustments? I thought you could. Palmer had a huge day, throwing for 374 yds 4 TD 1 INT, sacked once. McCown had a good day, throwing for 211 yds, 3 TD 1 INT and one sack. The Browns couldn't run the ball though, only 39 yds. Clev was good on 3rd down, but AZ was 13-16, i.e. the Browns defense couldn't get off the field. AZ did lose in turnovers 4-2, but they scored when they hung on to the ball. AZ is 6-2.

SF 6, StL 27 - Rams move to 4-3 with a good win over the 49ers. It was 20-6 at half. Foles threw for short yds a lot, but had no turnovers and 1 TD. Kaepenick threw for short yds also, but no TD and 3 sacks. SF ran for 38 yds, that ain't gonna get it done. Rams ran for 197 as Gurley had 133 yds rushing. Both teams were horrible on 3rd down and had a TON of penalties, 13 for SF and 12 for StL.

NYG 49, NO 52 - In the college game of the day, both defenses chose not to leave the locker room. Lead changed hands a few times, and NO was up 42-28 at the end of the 3rd qtr. NYG scored 21 in the 4th and it looked like we were headed to OT at 49-49. NYG punted to NO with around 20 secs left, and the NYG punter was called for a face mask when tackling a guy that recovered a fumble by their punt returner. Once it was all sorted out, the Saints kicker was lining up a 50-yd FG attempt with 5 secs remaining. Winnuh, winnuh, chicken dinnuh. Quick look at the stats: Brees threw for 511 yds and was 40-50, amazing. 7 TDs and 1 INT, amazing. No sacks, amazing. Manning threw for 350 yrds and 6 TDs, excellent. NO lost in turnovers 2-1 and had 6 more penalties, but made up for it on 3rd down, going 7-11 and holding the Giants to 1-8. Both teams are 4-4.

Min 23, Chi 20 - The Vikings poured it on in the 4th qtr to get a road win. Both QBs had below-avg numbers, only 1 sack apiece. Min ran for 50 more yds as Adrian Peterson ran for 103. Vikes were slightly better on 3rd down, penalties were even and Min lost in turnovers 1-0. Min is 5-2.

SD 26, Bal 29 - Another back and forth, exciting game. Bal goes ahead by 3 with 4:34 to go. SD drives down and kicks a 49-yd FG with 2:27 to go to tie it. Then Bal moves the ball down the field and gets to the SD 22 yd line with 1:05 to go. They ran the clock down to 3 seconds, and the 39 yd FG is... good! Ravens win. All stats were very even. SD gets the lean on 3rd down efficiency.

Cin 16, Pit 10 - Cincy gets a road division win and they are looking like the real deal. Both QBs threw INTs and were sacked 3 times. Le'veon Bell got injured, but Pit was able to continue to run the ball with D'Angelo Williams. Pit lost in turnovers 3-2, both teams had 10 penalties. Cincy outscored the Steelers 10-0 in the 4th qtr. Cin is 7-0, Pitt is 4-4.

Tenn 6, Hou 20 - Metterberger played for the injured Mariotta, and it didn't go well. Seven sacks and 1 INT. Hoyer did well for Hou, 235 yds 2 TDs but 3 sacks. Neither team ran the ball well. Ten lost in turnovers 3-0. Hou was not good on 3rd down, but Ten was wretched, 1-12. Hou is 3-5.

NYJ 20, Oak 34 - It was 31-13 at the end of the 3rd. Penalties were even and Jets were a bit better on 3rd down, but Carr had a great day for the Raiduhs, 333 yds 4 TD no INT no sacks. Jets lost in turnovers 1-0. Fitzpatrick got hurt in the first half, Geno Smith came in and did his best but didn't set the world on fire. Both teams are 4-3, and Oak has a legit shot at making the playoffs. They play the Broncos once and the Chiefs twice, as well as GB.

Sea 13, Dal 12 - Matt Cassel was no help to the Cowboys. Both defenses were good and the Seattle offense was a LITTLE bit better. Both teams ran the ball well. Seahawks were a little better on 3rd down, but lost the turnovers 1-0. Penalties were even. Dal did block a FG for Sea in the 2nd half, but Sea was able to kick the winning FG from 24 yds with 1:06 left.

Yeah, this week AND last week saw Atlanta lose on their turnovers. Last week, they also kept losing the game as they entered the red zone. Putty. They better get their crap together quick. Beers and crew won't wait around long. Carolina is living in borrowed time. In my opinion.

Patriots over Cardinals... based on the Cardinals and their schedule...
Cards over Patriots just sounds better, though. :D

The Cardinals next two games will be on Sunday Night Football, too. Nov. 15 at the Seahawks and Nov. 22 at home against the Bengals. Those will both be tough games. Seattle at home is always difficult to deal with and the Bengals will probably be 9-0 at that point.

Colts and Panthers getting read to kick off on Monday Night Football .... biggest concern, all of the pregame taking heads are picking the Panthers .... with the way they have missed in recent weeks, that is probably not a good thing
