Just as an aside note, 125 vehicles for internal usage, which I interpret as testing, seems like a lot. Perhaps vehicle companies do this so if they are sued they can claim they did thorough testing as shown by the large number of vehicles tested. It seems like a waste that they usually destroy these vehicles.

1. There's no way I'm reading through 370 posts (I go away for 5 freaking days and this place explodes...)
2. this fast moving thread needs a summary every 25 pages or so.
3. If I repeat anything already posted.... deal with it.

Look, Elio added another round of quality control. They're dedicated to making a GREAT car. Anyone or group starting up an actual (all new) physical product that COMPLETELY disrupts an ENTIRE industry is going to require a learning curve. The evolution of the Elio from concept to reality, as well as Paul Elio's evolution from engineer to business is a rare sight to behold.

I challenge you to find a realistic comparison. I don't mean a single part or component, I mean a whole system, design, testing, manufacturing, support, and legal.

I'm #4xxx and patient.

This vehicle WILL change transportation and ripple throughout the industry and I will enjoy every moment of it.

So my car will be delayed from December to early 2017?
Big frakkin' deal.

Suck it up Buttercup....

I thought the plan for the 100 originally was for them to serve as dealer demos for the various dealers to be set up around the country, for additional PR events so EM is not constantly shipping one prototype around the country, and for making demos and sales pitches to fleet owners, all of which can be considered as "for internal purposes."

What would be impressive is if EM built and tested the E's.......still waiting on that milestone..........followed up by the 100 preproduction Elio's: 50 designated for FLEET sales testing and 50 for nationwide location ride and drive events testing to provide current INDIVIDUAL reservationists the opportunity to actually drive the Elio and marketing for additional pre-sales customers. It would show some EM support and appreciation to the individual Elio fans that have enthusiastically supported the Elio financially from day one.

Does EM owe us any consideration for our past and continued support? I think they do.

Some states require dealers to have a car on premises for road trips. That accounts for most of the 125 "internal use" vehicles.

Besides the vehicle design being unique, the sales/distribution system is very unique. I have never heard of this before. Is this plan of marshaling centers and stores with overnight delivery completely new and never existed anywhere in the world before?

I think part of the reason this subject has exploded is because we have talked about everything before and this is something new.

Not so. I don't recall us discussing the color "yellow" before. Is it supposed to be lemon yellow, egg yolk yellow, sunshine yellow or ? And how do we get our cars with whitewall tires? (I understand they're coming back -- part of the "retro" craze.)

The only ground breaking single example is Tesla, for their leadership in having "company stores" as opposed to dealerships.
Right now, that's the only commonality - I still have trouble appreciating distance and unit numbers on the roads seems "challenging" with the centers about( 900 miles ?) between 'em. I defer to those more familiar with the process.

Pulling up to a store, test drive, ordering, with extras, financing, temp registrations, accepting delivery, AND getting your unit within 24 hrs a stretch. For those who might live a few hundred miles, it would seem necessary to stay overnight near the store

Seems too many miles between factory and centers, and too many miles to stores from centers.
I've learned the expression dead-ending which seems to only compound the issue

You too??? Can you imagine what kind of TRAFFIC it'll bring to Shreveport??? 100's of ELIOs being picked up by reservation owners and then going their separate merry ways home! I'm even thinking of driving my really old 1999 car w/ 260K miles (probably worth $200. or less) and donating it to charity in Shreveport then pick up my ELIO! :D

That is a super cool idea!! Don't forget to pick up your $500 tax deductible receipt from the Salvation Army.
