Is Anyone Going Base Model?

I am betting you will find that a 1200# vehicle will steer with little effort with no need for power. You will have the opportunity to test drive as a reservationist prior to production to know for sure.

The majority of my vehicles have not had power steering (including the trucks and the school busses and the tractors).
Now, with bone spurs and cartilage loss in shoulders, arthritis in upper back, tendinitis in wrists & elbows, I'm quite clear about my preference for power steering,,

As for all the "options", which are coming from 3rd party vendors...when & where do these options get installed? I know little to nothing about the process of building a car, but I thought the purpose of all options being 3rd party was so that Elio didn't have deal with those parts. Currently there are only a handful of options, so it's not a big deal, but what about when options are in the 100's or more? Do car companies have a department that add options or can all these options be added to the line? Seems like, with every Elio being different, having to program each car & options into the system would be a pain in the @$$? Do they have different lines for each option?
My apologies if this sounds like an ignorant question, but to someone with no automotive experience...I was just curious as to how that works?

Ultimately, yes. We’re planning a series of events close to the delivery of our first vehicle to let our supporters get the Elio feeling. Once we are in full production, you’ll be invited to one of our ride and drives that will be much more comprehensive, fun and informative than a typical “test drive.”

Your welcome. Perhaps I will lose my bet on the EZ steering prediction. Quite clear you need and want it so I hope it's an available option.

They are only making base models at the factory, local distribution centers install selected options.

I haven't heard any projections from EM that the distribution centers and/or Retail Centers will be in place and operational when production begins .... I have no doubt all this is being discussed behind closed doors

until the distribution centers are opened, staff is trained, and equipment is provided, it would seem logical that vehicles would have to be completed as ordered when they leave the factory .... the plant appears to have plenty of room to do so
