Thanks Norahsbed !
I hope they are not waiting for the 200 million DOE ATVM loan to start the production, as it does not sound very realistic for such an inexpensive car.
You never know with a government agency. What works for one company, may not work for the next and in some cases everyone who applies gets the money or nobody does! We Just need to wait and see what happens.

I am curious what is the latest status of this car. Specifically:

1. The engine. Has it been produced for testing ? Has it been tested with this car, on the real roads ?
2. Production. Has it been postponed recently because of insufficient financing, or some technical issues ?

Thanks
-Mike
These topics have been covered in detail on the forum. You can learn a lot if you take some time to review the threads. A quick short answer to your questions. 1----NO and to question 2---production was delayed due to problems of a third party acquiring the GM plant and subleasing a portion to Elio.

You know, with the blog and news releases focusing on the engine, I wonder if they have a working copy of the engine getting ready or already on the dyno and are waiting for further tests and data to release the fact is is running. It is almost as if they are laying the groundwork for a major engine announcement. We can only hope and wait I guess.

:D:cool:;)
According to Elio, he current status of the prototype engine is that it’s been assembled and spun without power to make sure there are no interferences. It was then torn down and it is currently being reassembled in a more laborious process that involves checking all tolerances, torques etc. The target date for dyno testing is November 15th. Elio told me that assuming they meet power and torque specs they will run the engine to failure. Following that, 25 validation examples of the engine will be built for pre-production pilot vehicles, some of which will be used for crash testing.
