The current posts are interesting and makes one think of all the possibilities that COULD happen ???...and WE (Elio owners) all would like to know the prospect of our future mode of transportation...RIGHT ?....Will the govt. grant come through ?...will the engine perform well Feb. 6th ?....will surplus equipment really sale ?....Is 40 thousand reservations enough over the past 4-5 years telling us all something ?....Are regulations against the making of this revolutionary transportation ?...the old adage "If it sounds too good to be true...???" My thoughts would like to believe that Elio Motors may be a revolutionary start-up company with the expected and unexpected pitfalls of establishing themselves among transportation giants. Be reminded of the board of directors involved along with the designers, engineers, suppliers, and grass root supporters of 40,000 and growing must count for a measure of success towards the likelihood of this company becoming a reality at some point in the very near future. The deadline on the manufacturing facility is going to be the litmus test and when you hear of employees are being hired and actually on site...then it will be the " ALL SYSTEMS GO ! "... (start picking out those fuzzy dice for the rear view mirror...Ha! )....just sayin'

Very good analysis (for a newbee?) your right on mark. All your "Q" are the focus of all the speculations - the crowed has thinned here pretty much , everyone wants it to happen, with many raising their concerns. Everything else covers a wide range of food, religion, weather, family success, and every vehicle they've driven. Satire, humor, and double meanings make for laughs!!

Also the estimated value is 75-100M....they will NOT get 75M for the equipment.
They have also said that they have averages 90% of their asking price for the equipment they have sold so far. If we take the average of the price range, we assume an overall value of $87.5M. 90% of that is $78.75M Ebay and money transfer fees will take a bigger cut of the lower priced stuff. The more expensive items will most likely be direct placement. As long as overall fees don't account for more than 4.7% of the selling price, Elio gets their $75M

I thought that Elio is still planning on putting some form of emissions system on it. Anyone else recalls this?
They plan to build them all 50 state legal and meet all motorcycle and automotive requirements for emissions. Here in the U.S. that means meeting California standards as this is the only exception to Federal standards authorized. http://www.eliomotors.com/features/#green-impact

I believe overall selling fees will account for more than 5%....probably closer to 10%....all based on opinion. That company selling it has over 4k items on ebay. That takes a lot of time.

Also, they have said they received 90% of asking price, that is very possible. If you look at just the feedback, all the items sold are cheaper items <$2200 each. Those have a high level of liquidity. Most of those items are smaller. The bigger items are less liquid. Using the first $20k as a concrete % is not a great way to go. At the same time, there is really no good way to figure it out, just wait and see.

Again, the thing to watch for is how soon the items are selling.

As you guys know, i have little to no faith this will happen. Now many of you guys risked (invested $1k non refundable)....if some of you really think it is gonna happen and have extra cash, why don't some of you guys buy the cheaper stuff and resell it. Lets say hypothetically you get 90% of what you pay, it would help out EM (i am not recommending doing that, just seeing what you guys think).....or maybe you could make a deal with them, buy $1000 worth of equipment and they give you $1200 or so off if they build the car.
